BigDave Posted November 26, 2008 Posted November 26, 2008 I find it very amusing that the new panasonic ae3000 is only $2500 retail in the usa but here it is $6500. How do they hope to compete with other products on the market? Why is there such a discrepancy in pricing? For example, the new sony blu ray player 5000es is $2000US and only $2300 here.

BigDave Posted November 26, 2008 Author Posted November 26, 2008 well this is what they have as the rrp. What do you think of it visionplay? Can we know how much you paid and from where?
visionplay Posted November 26, 2008 Posted November 26, 2008 well this is what they have as the rrp. What do you think of it visionplay? Can we know how much you paid and from where? Ok, Well i purchased this to replace my now retired Screenplay 5700, which was a terrific projector in its time. SO this is my step into 1080p Projectors and from what ive seen the 3000 Performs really, really well. First off I played Transformers through it on Blu-Ray last night off a PS3 console and was very impressed with the picture quality, The Contrast levels are excellent and the skin tones were better than i had anticipated. It required very little adjustment to get it to my liking and boy this thing has alot of adjustment features which is Awesome.. Its got an Image mode which is very bright but found the colours were not right on it but didnt bother messing around to get it right as i was too excited to watch a movie. I Also plugged my Foxtel cable box into it and was also impressed with the image quality it achieved with lesser quality material. Play an Xvid File (Dexter) though it and was happy with that too, not that i purchased it for this reason, but though i might try a range of stuff through it. I Purchased it from an O/S source in the US and cost me $4250 landed (4 days shipping) with the dollar at 67c So for that price its an amazing projector and i can only compare it with the JVC, IN83 & HC7000 (thats what setup at my local Big Picture retailer) and can honestly say it nearly matches the JVC HD1 & Slightly better than the HC7000 & IN83, But thats just my Opinion. If anyones interested in the supplier O/S pm me and ill be happy to provide you his details, Really Professional Dealer (helps when dealing with people O/S)

These guys have it at $5,299 http://www.digitalcentre.com.au/c/115457/1...projectors.html Still quite a bit more than $4,250 quoted above Edited November 28, 2008 by jgh
Gino Posted November 29, 2008 Posted November 29, 2008 Personally I was more impressed with this projector than the HD1, in fact, I'm thinking that this may possibly be my first digital projector before I get into something more high end.

Gino Posted November 30, 2008 Posted November 30, 2008 I think perhaps it stems from the fact that I'm used to some of the best on/off CR projection available. This is the HD1's strength, and although was nice, still doesn't come close to what I have at home, so it didn't leave a lasting impression on me. The AE3000 on the other hand was pumping quite a lot light, something I am not used to, with great ANSI performance, as well as very good on/off, and a host of great image enhancing features and CIH capability, all for a very reasonable price.
Pat_88 Posted December 17, 2008 Posted December 17, 2008 (edited) I have found this website http://www.projectorpeople.com and these people http://www.bhphotovideo.com allow credit card payment on both it is $2499 ($3800 aud) they ship overseas thats not including shipping and they are off the authorised dealers on panasonics us website can anyone tell me if the warranty would still be valid and if anyone has bought like this Edited December 17, 2008 by Pat_88
BigDave Posted December 17, 2008 Author Posted December 17, 2008 Warranty? you have got to be kidding. Only projectors bought in australia from a licensed rep. get aussie warranty. you would need to ship them back if you had any probs.

How about the fact that they are only offering 1 year warranty for their home theatre projectors here in Australia Some people think its because of the issues they had in the past with warranty claims on the panels kicking the bucket Must be a decent machine shame about the warranty situation - and price tag.
BigDave Posted December 18, 2008 Author Posted December 18, 2008 warranty is actually two years. weird, as their documentation states only one year, but I spoke to panasonic and they confirmed two years. They have stipulations about the warranty, though. Apparently you can only do 12 hours a week. Not many people who only do that many. Now, when they spoke to me it was because a lot of proj. are used in pubs, clubs and stores that have them going hours on end (hence heat buildup and breakage) but I would hate to have to take mine in for warranty, as I am sure that we do between 20-30 hours a week.
