Obviousman Posted November 26, 2008 Posted November 26, 2008 At random times, the black / very dark areas on my Acer HD TV are being interspersed with very fine, bright green pixelation, sort of like static. Any idea what this is? I just got it back from Acer where it was in for repairs, and now this. I'd like to be able to describe the condition to the warranty people.

Does this affect one or all of: during analogue/digital TV viewing by internal/external tuner; or DVD playback; PC connection; composite/component/HDMI inputs?
Obviousman Posted November 26, 2008 Author Posted November 26, 2008 Does this affect one or all of: during analogue/digital TV viewing by internal/external tuner; or DVD playback; PC connection; composite/component/HDMI inputs? DVD playback via Panasonic DMR-XW300, also occurring (I think) with Austar input to same device. Using component input to LCD HD TV (Acer AT3201W) from Panasonic unit.

Using component input to LCD HD TV (Acer AT3201W) from Panasonic unit. Sounds like the problem encountered when error-correction in the DVD player cannot cope with all of the missing, or incorrectly encoded, data. When its a reception problem with the digital tuner, the picture would be just freezing or breaking-up.
diesel Posted November 26, 2008 Posted November 26, 2008 Try your DVD player on a different input, and Austar as well to ensure it's not the panel.
Obviousman Posted November 27, 2008 Author Posted November 27, 2008 Thanks for the replies. The TV is just about to go out of warranty, so I'll just put it in to be repaired. I was wondering if it is something that has been seen before. Cheers all!

Could you please tell me what the issue was with your unit and how it was fixed? Mine is also about to go out of warranty. Any advice appreciated, cheers.
