Ironman was my first BD viewing experience last weekend since upgrading the AMP.

Overall, I was impressed, but typical of me, I have to pick on a negative. That negative being the underwhelming audio when Ironman was shattering the glass walls in his laboratory roughly mid-movie.

Can anyone else be a champ & confirm whether the glass could be clearly heard or whether it was more of a background effect & not that crystal clear?

I'd demoed my AMP with the new 007 movie the day before & the impact of a bullet hitting a car windscreen stuck in my head (damn clear!), hence my wanting to find out whether this effect in Ironman was due to a poor centre speaker in my setup or just a poor sound effect within the movie.

Thanks!

I will look out for it. Mind you I have an older amp, so I'm watching it via DTS @ 1.5mbps.

What I have found at times, is the dialog seems overly bright. This may have been mentioned before, not sure.

Cheers

Make sure that 'night mode' thing isnt on. Google Ironman and you'll see what I mean...

Thanks, man! & now that you mention it, some dialogue parts were a little difficult to understand & muffled. Not sure if that's what you mean by "bright", but that's what I found. I thought maybe my centre channel speaker was to blame again, but aren't sure.

Let us know how you go with that scene!

Nah, night mode wasn't on. Stuff the neighbours.....kidding. I don't think I could fault the deep thumping sounds in the movie, just a few of the detailed sound effects & vocals.

I've watched it about 10 times and never noticed any issues with that scene, or any scene for that matter.

Check the DRC setting while the TrueHD track is playing, make sure its set to off.

Hakka.

(This forum is falling apart - so many time outs makes it hard to respond).

Anyway, thanks. The only part of the scene i'm questioning is the shattering glass as the rest seemed fine to me as well. There was no real emphasis on the glass breaking on my centre channel as I was hoping...maybe I had high expectations after the 007 demo earlier in the week...

Hmm just looked up DRC....I will definitely be investigating this when I get back home later in the week. I only rented Ironman, not having seen it before, so I can't go over it again, but i'll make sure that pesky DRC setting is off. Surely my Yamaha would have it off by default?

It isn't the AVR that is the issue, it is a PS3 issue with this movie. Setting DRC to Auto for whatever reason this disc then assumes night mode, so look in the PS3 settings and set to Off if it isn't already.
