Hey guys, am after some input on the following scenario:

Newish apartment (renting) I'm in is pre-wired for foxtel via satellite - I have a wall-plate with two coax connections which both work with foxtel and at the moment one is going to my tv (for FTA HD) and the other to my standard foxtel digital box.

Looking at getting IQ1 on that free 12mth offer and have a feeling I may have some issues getting it working 100%.

- I understand that if you split the one coax wall output so that the iq1 runs off the one coax port you lose functionality and possibly channels, correct?

- What if I got them to run one coax directly to the iq box and split the other port so that one goes to the 2nd input on the iq and the other for the TV for FTA HD. Would everything be rosy then? Or would the FTA conk out?

Hopefully that makes sense.

If BOTH sockets on the wall plate work for Fox AND FTA, you need to use a diplexer instead of a splitter. In this case, all will be rosey :)

Thats correct.

That may work.

It is possible to run a FTA and foxtel signal down the same cable.

What you will need to do is;

Follow the coax cable from the back of your STB to the wallplate

Unscrew the FTA connection from the wallplate and place it aside

Unscrew the foxtel coax xable and screw it into the FTA connection.

Check of foxtel works still

If foxtel works then what you have described will work

only problem is the IQ is a dual tuner & they won't install on a single cable for satellite, only for cable

I know that however it is possible that both connections at the wall plate are connected to the satellite dish.

They can they run FTA signals over one of the cables running from the LNB thus saving on the need to run three separate cables.

yeah i kinda didn't explain clearly that fox works through any of the coax ports in my apartment. Sounds all o.k. to me now - thanks for the confirmation!
