Ok went out last nite to look for a 40 – 50 inch TV For my Shop. Want something with Full HD, 100hz, 24P and very good quality.

The guy at Harvey Norman suggested the Series 8 Samsung, which seemed very nice. Colours were vibrant, and price was ok (can't remember, but price isnt the major factor any way). I also had a look at a 5.1 Sound System as well. He showed me a Speaker system from Klipsch i believe it was with a Yamaha Amp. Gonna call him today and find out exactly what speakers and Amp it was. Had a listen to it, sound playing through Blue Ray was very nice indeed.

Went to Domayne, and the guy there Suggested a Sony 46IN XBR Series LCD KDL46XBR. Now it looked nice, and im a big fan of Sony, but out of the 2, which is better. Heard some quality issues with Samsung, dunno if it is true. For the Sound System he showed me a Marantz amp (which he was going to upgrade to one that could do 7.1, and also do full 1080P upscale) and i think they were DB Dynamic speakers, or Jamo Speakers. (front speakers were in a orange looking wooden box, and they were V shaped at the front, so the sound came out from both sides of the front speakers.

Looking to spend approx 1000 – 2000 on speaker system (looking for something with clarity and good for movies and PS3\Xbox Games) and for the TV around the 3000 Price range (believe the Series 7 is more, but it is just on the margin of what i wish to spend.

Sorry about all the questions, Home Theatre is always something that has perplexed me on what to pick (it all looks so nice, and sounds so good in store)

So is the TV for the shop and the sound system for your dad? its a bit confusing.

If its for the shop, would it be better if you get inwalls or in ceiling speakers for less clutter? I guess it depends what you sell i guess...

Sounds a bit incongruous - a store TV but 1080p? The only content to take advantage of that would be BluRay players.

For the size and possibly incidental viewership (and the possible distance being 2+ metres) you could find something for much less $ in a simple standard 768x1024 HD panel?

FWIW LCD apparently handles areas with lots of light better than Plasma if that makes a difference.

Dont worry about the sound system with for my dad...

Basically looking at the 2 TV's (Samsung Series 8 Vs Sony XBR) and the 2 sound systems they offered with them.

Harvey Norman said this was rated there best system, and klipsch was rated as there best speakers. The salesman said this system is marked down from around the 2000 mark down to 1500

Domayne said there sound system used the retail for 2200 alone for the speakers, but are doing the speakers plus an upgraded marantz amp for 1700.

The shop is an Internet cafe and Computer shop. We are going to do some late nite game nites with a PS3, as well as movie nights with the bluray. Have a large amount of customers who have already paid up for the first nite. Dont mind to much with the speakers being visible,

Reason for 1080P is yeah for the Movie Nights (Have a very popular Noodle Bar next door, and there sons and their mates are part of the customers who want to sit back, play the PS3, Watch some BluRay Movies and eat) Was and still am considering not getting 1080P but am unsure of what model would be best? (Still would want names like: Panasonic, Samsung, Sony or Pionner)

Forget LCD,If you want a great picture, 104 cm and above, look a the Panasonic Plasma range and let your eyes guide you,you may prefer the LCD.

But dont believe the salesguys they just want the sale with the greatest profit.

The forum is FULL of comparisons,do the research!

Cheers.
