suparockin Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 Been looking everywhere for this - WIS-08BG2X Wireless Link stick /usb adapter It's supposed to wirelessly connect your TV to your home network so you can use the RSS option on the TV. Anyone got one? Where can I get one?
diesel Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 I haven't found anywhere in Oz, but plenty of places in the US Samsung: WIS-08BG2X Wireless Link stick /usb adapter Best Buy have them on backorder for US$35 - here City Circut
suparockin Posted November 21, 2008 Author Posted November 21, 2008 Pretty stupid that you can't use one of the main new features of this TV without this stick, not only that but you can't find it for sale anywhere!

What main feature are you talking about? RSS can be used over a wired LAN connection also. Besides, its not really the main feature of the premium range. Anyway, the stick is apparenly just the normal wireless usb adapter sticks u buy (if memmory serves me correct it is a DLINK, although i cant remember) with just the samsung logo slapped on it. Dont quote me on this, as my memmory doesnt serve me well, but im pretty sure just using one of the normal usb wireless sticks will be exactly the same

I've read elsewhere that you can't just use any old usb adapter sticks, happy to be proven wrong if you know something concrete?
Rajat Posted November 23, 2008 Posted November 23, 2008 Nothing concrete man, like i said, I read it back quite a while ago on I think it was AVS Forum. But ye give it a whirl, if not you, one of your mates is bound to have one, if it works get one
suparockin Posted November 23, 2008 Author Posted November 23, 2008 Well I bit the bullet and ordered one of these from the Samsung parts website, no clue how long it will take to bring in and a bit of a rip off considering that postage was $40 on top of the $40 for the tiny Wiselink Stick. Oh well, it is a $6500 TV after all.

molarcusp2 Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 Did you find out further as to whether any other lan adapter can be used in place of the samsung WIS-08BG Would be interested to know. Tried it with a Belkin and had no success. Suspect the necessary software must be already loaded Cheers

Feel free to try it out, but obviously you do so at your own risk.. Don't think it will work though.
Rajat Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 Samsung in Aus dont seem to be marketting the tvs as compatible with a wireless stick. To enable wireless functionality they are saying to use a wireless bridge

To enable wireless functionality they are saying to use a wireless bridge That is a much better solution, esp for people with multiple network capable devices around the TV.. And you don't lose the single (IIRC?) USB port.
Rajat Posted January 31, 2009 Posted January 31, 2009 Yep, exactly. Not entirely sure where to get them / how much they are tho. Still, I dont even have th tv yet so doesnt effect me
