Guest bailes23 Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 Hi All, I'm hoping you can help me with some advice regarding a new 32" LCD and Wallmount for our befroom. TV: At this stage I'm thinking either the Panasonic (TX-32LXD80A) or Samsung (LA32A450). Doesn't need to be Full HD (have this in lounge). I'm currently leaning towards the Samsung series 4 for the 3 year warranty. Wallmount: The wall for mounting is seen side on from the hallway, therefore I want the TV to look as neat as possible side on. With this in mind, should I go for a non-tilt flat wallmount? Do you think this will be an issue when viewing from a bed? What would you do in this situation?? Thanks in advance, Bailes

Thanks in advance, Bailes I would go with Pana 42inch Plasma for bedroom, Better blacks so better PQ in dark room , with wall mount. You can probably do it for under $1100, maybe even cheaper.
Guest bailes23 Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 Thanks dlpnut - Hadn't really thought about a plasma due to size (mrs only wants a smallish screen). Might be a better deal for money though. Has anyone used skunkworks brackets? Looking at the following options - http://www.skunkworks.com.au/product_info....;products_id=45 - http://www.skunkworks.com.au/product_info....;products_id=46
Guest obee Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 You want to be careful with any mounting that doesn't swivel. Friends of ours monted a smallish LCD in their bedroom and they couldn't see it prtoperly from bed. It's now gone with a new swivel mounted, larger plasma in it's place. Although I reckon unless your bedroom is enormous a 32" would be OK, or maybe go up to 40" depending on price, features etc.
diesel Posted November 19, 2008 Posted November 19, 2008 I'd recommend an articulated mount or at the least one with tilt. I assume you will be mounting up reasonably high on the wall, so that is what i base my recommendation on. have a look at the wall mount guide attached to my signature for some background.

I would go a non-tilt bracket ( refer to your question I would go the panasonic however, the panasonic uses a vesa mount ( 200 x 100mm ) and uses 4mm screws for the fixings. These brackets are available cheap. The connections on the pana are furthur recessed than the samsung, and the antenna connection is vertical on the pana, the samsung is horizontal which makes it difficult to mount on a non-tilt bracket as the cables will hit the wall. Your decision in the end.
Guest bailes23 Posted November 20, 2008 Posted November 20, 2008 Thanks for that info digitalhome, I think I'll get the Pana for the reasons you mentioned. Can you recommend a good non-tilt bracket for this screen?
dlpnut1503560389 Posted November 20, 2008 Posted November 20, 2008 (edited) Thanks for that info digitalhome, I think I'll get the Pana for the reasons you mentioned. Can you recommend a good non-tilt bracket for this screen? Go to Selby.com they have good and cheap brackets. I mounted one in sons bedroom, pana 50inch using one of their brackets. The non tilt does come with two additional pieces you can attach to the top end of the bracket to give it a slight tilt, or if you dont use them you get no tilt. Order one if you cant get there should cost you about 60 to 70. Also can ring them and get advise. 20% less for members. Edited November 20, 2008 by dlpnut
