These new light squirters should be out late this year or early next year according to one supplier.

RRP will be $3999,great value for a PJ with these specs.

http://www.sanyo-lcdp.com/english/product/...3000/z3000.html

Who is interested in getting one of these?

I'm upgrading from an NEC HT1100,a great projector in it's day, so I should see a huge improvement.

My only complaint is that they don't make them in the old cream colour of the Z2000, which would match my loungeroom ceiling perfectly.

Things I like:

3 year warranty on PJ and lamp.

Snazzy automatic motorised lens cover

2 x Zoom

Very flexible Lens shift feature (very important with my setup.)

65,000:1 Contrast ratio (yeah I know it's a BS number,but isn't it a big BS number?)

Quietness = 19 decibels in Eco Cinema Black mode.

Size and weight - not too big and heavy.

Things I don't like:

The colour, not really a problem though.

Mid 3's I think.

Considering the dollar is around US65 cents, its price in the US is $3295, if prices were relative

it really could be just over 5K out here. So at 4K its remarkable value for money.

Perhaps it has something to with how our dollar compares against the yen since the Sanyo's

are all made in Japan.

I've never owned a projector but have always liked the features that Sanyo include such as the motorized lens cover and the abiity to blow dust blobs out. Their warranties are usually longer than other brands too. Where's a good place to view Sanyo projectors?

In Melbourne you could visit any of the Big Picture People stores.

The Z3000 is not out yet though, should be ready in a 4-5 weeks.

Its funny as a projector owner I actually find the lens cover an odd gimmick and as a DLP owner the need to blow out the dust blobs is just plain humorous.

I don't find anything humourous about that, at least it gives the user a way of dealing with it if it occurs.

To be honest I don't feel comfortable with any projector technology that plays tricks with my vision (ie RBE).

You and me both!

You mean like motion smearing on lcd projectors?

We could play the 'blame game' with these technologies all day long. Neither are perfect..

In the DLP projectors defence, what percentage of people are effected by this?

I think it's less than 1%, and for the record, a forum or poll is no way to guage this because you will always get those effected by it who are more guaranteed to speak up about over those who are not. Those who aren't effected by it are not jumping onto the forum to tell you they're not (that's my job : ), they're busy watching movies.

It's the same when you read about the fault rate of a certain projector or brand, everyone who's had a problem will post their thoughts, but those who are yet to have a problem couldn't care less about posting to say 'mine is fine'.. A little off track there sorry.

Certainly a lot more than the claimed 2% of population.

Anyway I'll take SXRD over LCD and single-chip DLP finishes dead last (I need a optically stable image). Now if 3-chip DLP's could be had for $5k AUD it'd be no contest! :)

I totally disagree, I believe it's about 1 in a 150 people and I come to that figure for two reasons, 1. by the amount of people thru my showroom in 12 months (over 300 and all of 2 have seen it - and one was Mark Techer and he got the W5000 anyway because the good far outweighed the bad). Put it this way, if you're going to use the game 'Pong' as a test for RBE, it brings it out and allows you to see it, these online tests are rediculous and are 'AIMed' at exagerrating the effect.. I kind of see it on the black and white test grid on DVE but never on a movie, not once.

and 2. I honestly believe the amount of people effected by it has been greatly exagerrated over the years, especially on the internet. "Oh he got a headache, spewed up his lunch and had to have a week off to recover" etc. If you're going to see RBE, and if it makes you that ill, would you really continue to watch it for long enough to make you physically sick? "Yes it was such an awesome movie, I couldn't stop watching, I was physically sick, but continued to sit there for 2 hours till the ambulance came and got me"

Nobody is denying it exists, just as motion smearing effects LCD projectors - but everyone can see that! I am just trying to show you how it's been exagerrated.

Let's get this thread back on track, the Sanyo Z3000

Just rang Sanyo Australia.

The RRP of the PLVZ3000 is $4,499 and it's in stock with them now although it may not be with stores yet

The other projector I'm considering is the new Sony VPLHW10 and it looks very good also and it's $700 cheaper at $3,699 RRP

Hmmmm...the Sony is swaying me at the moment. It's street price is around $2,800 to $2,900

By the way the lower spec Sanyo PLVZ700 is $2,999 RRP which is a good price for 1080P

Yer, ok three posts in a row so I'll stop after this.

The RRP on the lamp is $688 ($627 street) and on normal setting it'll last 2,000 hours or 3,000 hours on econo mode

That's pretty expensive isn't it?

It is, for instance, I paid $390 for a spare Epson TW100o Lamp when I had that PJ.

Yer, come on manufacturers, release those new LED lampless projectors.

Even if the projectors are $1,000 more than these, on a total cost of ownership point of view, they would still be cheaper.

I don't want to sit watching movies and thinking about the $'s ticking over to replace lamps.....

Let's get this thread back on track, the Sanyo Z3000

I can see RBE by slowly moving my head from side to side on normal film content and yes I do get headaches but only on some models - on the others I either get eye-strain or nothing at all in the case of 1 Barco a mate owned.

anyway, this Sanyo is a top notch little unit and I would happily own one if I couldn't afford an SXRD unit - based on my personal experience with my last PJ (Sanyo Z5), I would not hesitate to own or recommend one.

To those that think the motorised lens cover is a joke or gimmick, it isn't - I found it greatly reduced the amount of lens cleaning required on my Z5. Aside from that, it will impress your friends and rello's with it's inherent coolness. :D

The motorised lens cover is the one thing I miss having moved from my Sanyo Z4 to the BenQ W10000.

I only notice RBE if I'm really really tired, most of the time it's not a problem.

Is that the way you watch movies? Swinging your head side to side like one of those clowns at the carnivals you shove ping pong balls in to?

You are more likely to spot RBE if you dart your eyes around a scene that has high contrast which is every scene on a DLP projector...

And as for dust, I keep my projector in a dusty room and I have cleaned my lens twice in 2 years. It was really quite dusty and neither time did it make any difference to the picture at all.

Anyway, sorry to keep dragging this thread off topic. I am actually looking at a buying new projector, and am considering LCDs so I am not just here to poke fun...

Just an update on the availability date on these.

I got a phone call today from a retailer who stated that there will be a price rise in the new year, this amounts to a $500 discount if you order soon.

$3699 was the price I got if I make a deposit this year or $4199 if ordered in the new year.

RRP is $3999 this year and $4499 at the start of next year.

I'm hoping to see a review up shortly so I can make my decision and get my deposit down, these are sent direct from Sanyo.

Not much of a discount... 300 off the RRP is 7%.. you should be able to get better than that B) .

Sanyo told us the rrp is $4499 right now. There is no stock till January anyway so the product is not out.

To have a different rrp on a product that does not exist right now is a little strange don't you think?

Not really, they told me that they may be sent out just after Christmas, maybe 27th December.

If your information is right, and theirs is wrong, then I am really getting $800 discount which is about 18% - correct?

I don't think it's strange to have 2 RRP prices,one is pre-price rise,the other is post-price rise.

Sanyo seem to be a bit slower than the others at raising their prices, probably bought on by our falling dollar no doubt.

Have all the other companies put up their prices yet?
