fossicker Posted November 14, 2008 Posted November 14, 2008 If you read the reviews, it seems a lot of people are having problems playing them.

momaw Posted November 14, 2008 Posted November 14, 2008 So plus shipping (slowest) at the current exchange it's about $120AUD. If our dollar hadn't tanked I would have grabbed it. But since there are only 2 in the set I really want I think I'll pass (and regret it later). Brilliant price if you are after them all though. Can't beat $20 each landed.
Mjr69 Posted November 14, 2008 Posted November 14, 2008 I bought the Lowry remastered 21 movie R1 (42 disc) boxset a while ago for $115 delivered from Amazon and the video and audio quality is very very good upscaled. I have checked the comparison pics on avsforum and the BR is slightly better - but not worth the upgrade IMHO. However the same sd DVD R4 21 movie boxset is about $299! so BR wouldn't be too bad a deal...
davep Posted November 14, 2008 Posted November 14, 2008 Would a PAL DVD version benefit from the additional lines of resolution as opposed to the NTSC DVD version?
Fouler Posted November 14, 2008 Posted November 14, 2008 Sarcastic message from my wife - "Thanks !!!" Was going to buy it, then had a twitch in the nether regions, which my wife would amputate...
deandob Posted November 14, 2008 Posted November 14, 2008 I bought this - couldn't resist even with the exchange rate. Inc. shipping was USD $72.93 so around $115. Shame about the $AU however its still a good price compared to local pricing. I use a HTPC so regional lock is no problem.
Kennerado Posted November 14, 2008 Posted November 14, 2008 I got it as well, screw the exchange rate. The local Bond's will be locked anyway I think and I have an A PS3.
SDL Posted November 14, 2008 Posted November 14, 2008 Sadly the region coding prevents me, I will have to pay the $30 a title here and get them for $180.
ausnew Posted November 15, 2008 Posted November 15, 2008 Sarcastic message from my wife - "Thanks !!!" Oh brilliant - I was distracted by something else last night during purchase (said wife), and while I was looking at the price on Amazon, I was for interest sake looking at the different prices for shipping I got a mail from Amazon this morning to say the set had shipped, and I was shocked to see "by courier". In my haste I forgot to change the shipping back to normal before I hit the purchase button
momaw Posted November 15, 2008 Posted November 15, 2008 Sadly the region coding prevents me, I will have to pay the $30 a title here and get them for $180. Where are the local BD versions of these only $30? I'll pick up the 2 I want at that price.
AndrewW Posted November 15, 2008 Posted November 15, 2008 must resist tempation ... knowing full well that the "ultimate super duper, bells and whistles 44 disc box set" will be announced about 2 days after I cave and order these ...
AndrewW Posted November 15, 2008 Posted November 15, 2008 bastards ... got to stop reading this forum ... look what you've gone and made me do now: Delivery estimate: December 12, 2008 - January 5, 2009Shipping estimate for these items: November 17, 2008 1 "James Bond Blu-ray Collection Six-Pack (Dr. No / Die Another Day / Live and Let Die / For Your Eyes Only / From Russia with Love / Thunderball) (Amazon.com Exclusive) [blu-ray]" Sean Connery; Blu-ray; $64.95 Delivery estimate: December 29, 2008 - January 20, 2009 Shipping estimate for these items: December 2, 2008 1 "Austin Powers Collection: Shagadelic Edition Loaded With Extra Mojo (BD) [blu-ray]" Austin Powers Collection; Blu-ray; $44.99 Delivery estimate: January 6, 2009 - January 27, 2009 Shipping estimate for these items: December 9, 2008 1 "The Dark Knight (+ Digital Copy and BD Live) [blu-ray]" Christian Bale; Blu-ray; $23.99 Subtotal of Items: $133.93 Shipping & Handling: $13.96 Pre-order Guarantee: -$0.00 Reward Applied: -$0.00 CS Goodwill: -$5.00 ------ Total for this Order: $142.89 But check it out, even though their bog standard response after kung fu pandagate said "sorry, nothing we can do" it appears that they have applied a $5 "CD goodwill" credit to my account. Even better, even though I chose "ship all together" it has automatically broken the order up into three shipments without charging me any extra

SDL Posted November 15, 2008 Posted November 15, 2008 Where are the local BD versions of these only $30? I'll pick up the 2 I want at that price. EzyDVD have them at $29.80 - not marked but at the register.

AndrewW Posted November 15, 2008 Posted November 15, 2008 Apparently resistance is futile. I blame it on the Amazon Voodo Magic.
SDL Posted November 15, 2008 Posted November 15, 2008 I blame it on the Amazon Voodo Magic. The Carribbean and Africa have voodoo, Amazon is known more for its poison darts
SDL Posted November 16, 2008 Posted November 16, 2008 Picked up the other 5 JB's I didn't get for $28.90 each and ID4 for $26.90 at EzyDVD. Saw Spearmint there too - sorry couldn't stay and chat longer mate my wife had our son outside as he had tried to destroy the store, he loves DVD's
the_wonderchild Posted November 16, 2008 Posted November 16, 2008 So is it all EzyDVD's that have the James Bond movies for ~$30? I was set to buy Dr.No (only one i want for now), but the two ticket prices put me off asking at the counter for a scan.
mfedley Posted November 16, 2008 Posted November 16, 2008 My guess is that all company owned (not franchise) stores have this deal. If in doubt might be a good idea to call So is it all EzyDVD's that have the James Bond movies for ~$30?I was set to buy Dr.No (only one i want for now), but the two ticket prices put me off asking at the counter for a scan.

Sadly I also succumbed to the sale and bought five movies.
Spearmint Posted November 16, 2008 Posted November 16, 2008 Watched 'Die Another Day' yesterday, I must admit the video and audio are first rate, in fact I recon the audio is the equal and in some cases betters many of the so called reference movies for dynamics and visceral audio effects.
