Guest Ode1 Posted November 13, 2008 Posted November 13, 2008 (edited) HEY peoples I have owned a Toshiba EP-10 for a while , but was without HD sound becuase my OLDE amp wasn't up for the challenge. So I got a new amp. A Yamaha RX-v3900 When I play BLU_RAY disc on my Blu-ray player I get DOLBY TRUEHD and DTS MA But when I play a True HD title from my EP-10 I get PCM, I have set the Audio to AUTO and BITSREAM. ANy Ideas? The disc I played states in the settings the track I chose was True HD ! Edited November 13, 2008 by Ode1
kiwimeat Posted November 13, 2008 Posted November 13, 2008 (edited) The HD-EP10 does not bitstream HD audio formats. Of the Australia released HD-DVD players only the HD-XE1 can bitstream HD audio. You will need to decode onboard the EP10 (except for DTS-MA which is not supported) and will output LPCM. So unfortunately you won't see the pretty logo's light up BUT the HD audio will be correct. The bitstream in the audio refers to non-HD audio. I'm curious about what your old AVR was. If it had HDMI audio support then it would have been equally effective for HD-DVD as your new shiny 3900! Thanks LPCM it is then. The OLDE amp had never heard of HDMI So I assure you it was time for an upgrade. It was a great amp, but was becoming harder and harder to add new devices, the RX-V3900 helped me stream line my connections And simplify my setup.
