Took delivery last week of a new 60" Pioneer KRP600M KURO monitor to replace a three year old 55" Fujitsu Plasma TV.

I thought three years ago the Fujitsu would be my last Plasma purchase ($11,500... ouch!) for a long time - and I enjoyed a 42" Fujitsu before that one.

I was about to purchase the Pioneer PDP-LX608A plasma panel back in May when a visit to the forums revealed a 9th generation Kuro was coming... so I impatiently waited and waited for the LX609A model to arrive on our shores.

Then a few weeks ago I discovered the KRP600M on this thread and learnt the 9th generation Kuro was already available in Australia and was even slimmer than the much anticipated 60" next gen model - only 64mm thin :o

I don't have a need for an inbuilt tuner - so the slimmer, lighter KRP600M model was a must have now purchase!

The decision to "buy now" was also influenced by not knowing exactly how much longer the LX609 would arrive here and also the plummeting AUD$/YEN/US$.

Cost with stand was an even $9k.

Happy? You bet! No regrets - as already reported widely in the forums and reviews of the 9th gen Kuro's - absolutely stunning blacks and colour contrast. I intend to have the monitor fully calibrated and to quote Aaron Rigg of Avical Australia regarding this Pioneer plasma "There is a huge range of control including the ability to individually calibrate each resolution on the same input so we can get an extremely accurate result."

Regrets? Anyone for a 55" Fujitsu going very cheap :(

A few pics here showing the slim panel and screen of HD Foxtel material.

Gosh... even across the web that looks the goods.

What's the chance that a 50' equivalent (KRP500M?) will exist?

Looks great!

can I ask where you got it from at 9k with stand?

Pioneer RRP is 10999.

cheers

Punchy,

I'm just wondering what the 'manufactured date' of your KRP600m is. I've just had mine delivered this week and it was manufactured 'June 2008'. The ties holding the outer & inner boxes together were those joined with a buckle which can be loosed and removed by hand as opposed to fixed (which you have to cut to remove). Just a bit worried about that I might not be the first person to have it out of the box. Rang Pioneer, no help at all even with giving them serial no.

The 50" model does indeed exist. It is, at least, available here in Europe and in fact I have been looking at it to replace my horrible 42" Philips plasma which is heavy, bulky and runs too warm for my taste. Not to mention that it is only capable of 720p/1080i. It would seem I am going to be poorer in the near future, lol.

I wanted to announce that Andrew Poole (www.hometheatreengineering.com) is an Officially Licensed ControlCAL ISF Calibrator in Australia (currently, the only Professional Licensed to do so) and can activate and calibrate the Pioneer ISFccc Interface on 8G and 9G Models (including the KRP-M's with expanded ranges on several Controls).

The 9G ISFccc Interface has improved/changed from the 8G's.

* The ability to go beyond 41fL of peak brightness without clipping whites or destroying gamma (great for those with ambient light control issues).

* Much more flexibility with the gamma

* Better low end grayscale

* Greater picture depth because of the above

Understanding the Pioneer 9G ISFccc Interface

If you decide to hire a Professional ISF Calibrator, make sure to ask if they have ControlCAL (which is the only application that can access and activate the Pioneer 9G ISfccc Interface). All ISFccc Controls and Options are supported.....

I do recommend you have the ISFccc Interface Activated and Calibrated to get the most from your Display (the ISFccc Interface has a lot of flexibility).

On a side note, I have the NA equivalent to the KRP-600M, these are the best consumer flat panel displays you can buy today... You are going to love them.. :D

Hi Dave

My KRP-600M manufactured date is also June 2008. I recall having to get a pair of scissors to cut the plastic ribbon ties.

I'm no longer worried, took the plastic off and not a mark anywhere to be found. No buzz from screen (only audible within a couple of inches) and no dead pixels. Can't wait to get it on the wall, still waiting for my KRP wm01 wall bracket to arrive from UK. Watched a couple of Fox HD movies and the wife and I just blown away with the picture quality & detail (settings per AVS forum UK).

looks great, i saw all the Tv's were like this when i was over in japan but i hate how big the stand is still..It makes having a thinner screen redundant....Wall mounting would be the way to go

Two HDMI inputs on a monitor ! They are joking , right........

For a “Monitor” one would be enough, two is plenty.

Well, it is a monitor. Yes some people have specific needs however most monitors would only usually rely on one source (which probably switches sources itself anyway) and the second one allows some flexability.

Thanks for the input information. I really need 2 component, best go and see if I can actually do it with 1.

Not if you want PIP or POP!

The problem with fewer inputs is that you lose the flexibility to

individually adjust the different sources for PQ.

e.g.

if you have DVD, HDTV, Blu-ray, etc I find that the brightness,

colour saturation etc varies greatly.

Routing them all through an AVR to one (or two) inputs means that

you don't have that flexibility.
