LOGTECH 1 Posted November 8, 2008 Posted November 8, 2008 Hi Guys I spoke to a sales Rep yesterday (7 Nov) at Maket Place Bendigo and was told that 111 hits is coming to Austar in the next 2 weeks (we will see) the problem has been a Technical one and we were supposed to get it when foxtel did ( I don't Know whether to believe him but that is what he said), I think that Austar has recieved so much flak over not getting 111 hits they had no choice but to give to there subscribers, no word on any other channels. We will see what happens happy viewing in the mean time.

If they were going to give us this channel they woudl be advertising it, direct mailings etc, if they are going to relent, the earliest you woudl see this channel would be dec 1, and I am not going to hold my breath, they have been stating emphatigorically they are not getting it, so enjoy the second rate service the supply
Sam3280 Posted November 8, 2008 Posted November 8, 2008 Why are you not showing the three new channels 111 Hits, Cbeebies and BBC Knowledge. Content has been taken off Arena, Comedy Channel and Fox Classics and yet only people in capital cities and WA can now see these shows. I realize that Austar has no control over what each channel shows what but you do have a choice of what channels you show. Dear Sam Thanks for your email. AUSTAR doesn’t have any current plans to launch either channel 111, Cbeebees or BBC Knowledge although some of the channels on our existing line-up have taken this opportunity to refine their core programming. Arena and FOX Classics, for example, offers fantastic programming from years gone by. Now they are able to add even more classics from the 60's and 70's with the addition of several new shows such as Hart to Hart, The Odd Couple, Lost in Space. We’ve included a list below. Arena is building upon its amazing success since it was relaunched some months back. Fantastic programs such as Project Runway, Shear Genius and Top Chef will now be joined by a range of new programs that focus on personal style, including a whole block from The Style channel with shows such as Dress My Nest, Style Her Famous, and Modern Girls Guide To Life. In saying all this, we are always looking for new content and the 100 or so channels we presently have on offer provides our customers with fantastic programming, offering something for everyone, both the old and the new with many premiere shows never been seen on free to air television. New programming coming to FOX Classics and Arena FOX Classics: · The Odd Couple · Hart to Hart · Mannix · Lost In Space · The Addams Family · The Saint · Petticoat Junction · The High Chaparral Arena: · Cristina’s Court · One Tree Hill · Instant Beauty Pageant · Style Network Block: Dress My Nest / Style Her Famous / Modern Girls · Guide To Life · Style By Jury We trust that these will let you enjoy your AUSTAR even more. Kind regards Corali ask@austar Dear Madam, Thank you for your response however I would like an answer, Why are you not showing channels 111 Hits, Cbeebies and BBC Knowledge? Dear Sam Thank you for your response. AUSTAR has not obtained the viewing rights at this stage to show this programming Kind regards Corali ask@austar
Jason_dinAlt Posted November 8, 2008 Posted November 8, 2008 The drones on the answer desk play dumb. what new channels? they say. What Austar really needs is honesty in their replies. why cant they just say it like it is, either they arent interested in getting it unless they can charge extra for it or foxtel wont share it, why do they treat us like morons? why cant they just be honest? And they really need to stop it with the scripted email reply, if your email contains certain words then you get a scripted reply. anyone remember asking about mystar before its launch only to get a scripted reply regardless of what you asked?
DrP Posted November 8, 2008 Posted November 8, 2008 New programming coming to FOX Classics and Arena ... that has already been run to death on other channels.
mjt57 Posted November 9, 2008 Posted November 9, 2008 why do they treat us like morons? Perhaps they think that we really are morons. Certainly there are a lot of people who don't have pay TV think that we're morons for paying to watch television and in particular, paying to watch ads.
Reaper1503560721 Posted November 9, 2008 Posted November 9, 2008 (edited) Perhaps they think that we really are morons. Certainly there are a lot of people who don't have pay TV think that we're morons for paying to watch television and in particular, paying to watch ads. I'd love to be able to disagree with them but every time they pull crap like this I can't help but think maybe I am a moron for paying for this ****. It's not like you have an alternative when it's austar or nothing but why we constantly bend over and take it is of concern to me lol. It's so ad ridden and programming is stale, then to take away content without cause is mind boggling. Edited November 9, 2008 by Reaper
ozbrit Posted November 9, 2008 Posted November 9, 2008 Austar are great believers in the " Its our way - or the highway' principle. With their virtual monopoly in regional Australia they're quite conceited with it all and can handle any flack that comes their way. Complain about Austars monopoly to Stephen Conroy the government minister involved with broadcasting matters - address below. Why waste anymore time on Austar, they're not listening! minister@dbcde.gov.au
