rwo Posted November 7, 2008 Posted November 7, 2008 (edited) I am looking at getting an LP Morgan 100" Rondo Motorized screen (lpm21irmot100h) with the ir control and was just wondering what peoples thoughts on these screens are? The 100" screen I am looking at comes in at about $2499 with an additional $1299 for the "hideaway" box (I am guessing these are rrp prices so I will try and get it a bit cheaper if I can ) What is the finish like on these screens (I am yet to see one in action) are they a quality screen that's worth the price tag charged or are there better options out there for IR controlled motorized screens? Edit: I just found the screen I am after listed for $1909, so it's getting cheaper already! Edited November 7, 2008 by rwo

rwo Posted November 7, 2008 Author Posted November 7, 2008 Hmmmm, coincidence. I saw the pictures of your setup earlier and that's why I started looking into that particular screen! Only problem is, I am in WA so the shipping costs will probably be pretty stiff, and I'm not even sure how I would go about getting something that size over here. Are you going to stick with a motorized screen when you move to an anamorphic setup? I haven't been able to find any motorized scope screens, do they even exist?

Have decided to go fixed. Which will mean i need to build a lift system for a plasma so it rises in front of the screen. The setup is not that hard to do. I dont understand why they charge 4k for a lift kit that can be done under 1k. I have sent out some info asking for shipping rates so at least you know what it would cost if your interested.

Darren, if you get this sorted for a minimal amount as you describe, I would love to know what you used and how you did it. The mechanics are easy enough, it's the precision and motorisation I'm curious about. Cheers, Chris

darent74 Posted March 25, 2009 Posted March 25, 2009 (edited) btw way currently i am looking at the DL4 , its a LINAK column , http://www.deskline.linak.com/Products/?id2=173 The Dl4 has 675 mm of stroke , more than enough for a 40 inch tv , the price of the dl4 column with the ir remote, power supply, fixed limit switch and normal switch it looking to be approx 500 + gst. Thats wire up and go. On top of this, you will need a way to mount the column to the base ( aluminum or steel square plate ) with 4 screw holes. , which i am looking a sourcing from a aluminum supplier ( linear bearings ) or a steel plate from whereever. From what i have seen at stores and trade shows, they mount the unit (dl4 ) flat against the back of the cabinet and use a horse shoe bracket ( square horseshoe bracket ) , its not rocket science . I am currently building a large cabinet that will house the speakers i have built along with all the av gear on a rail slide out system. The cabinet is being built to be modular, so at a later date, the front middle of the cab can be changed to house a tv and the speakers moved to behind a screen. Problem with not having large cash flow, you have to plan for future expansion. picture of bracket to mount column to wall, ( looking down on top of cab ) ____ ___| |___ ----------------------- back wall to hold the veritcal. i would gestimate approx 100 dollars or so for both plates. total so far is 600dollars. I am just having a "debate" on moving the tv from one room to another, i am losing the argument..... Oh, last thing will be a mounting bracket to hold the tv, i am looking at 37 inch bracket rather than 40 as the 37 can hold the weight and not stick out the sides in view.
