dddp Posted November 1, 2008 Posted November 1, 2008 Saw an article in the West Australian on the 29th Oct about the analogue cut off dates for WA. It seems the take up of digital television has been low to date according to spokesman for Senator Conroy which is the reason why the cut off date has been so late for the state. And, this cut off date is a full 3 years behind the cut off date in some parts of the eastern states. No mention of the lack of digital broadcasting by the 2 commercial stations as being the primary reason behind the slow take up rate of people buying digital televisions at all. This complete lack of reporting of the true state of affairs and the blaming of the low take up rate being the reason the analogue cut off date being so late is perhaps an indication that digital broadcasting will not be taking place by both GWN or WIN anytime soon in regional WA. Why would they implement digital broadcasting anytime soon when they've just been handed a 5 year extension of analogue broadcasting! How many people in the Bunbury area have bought a LCD or Plasma television and are forced to use something like a VCR, or if they are lucky, a DVR or something with both analogue and digital tuners so they can receive GWN or WIN signals I wonder? How many people, us included are putting off buying a new LCD or Plasma television until digital broadcasting in our area is implemented because we have no wish to use yet another box to watch analogue TV on a digital television? Where can you voice your disgust with this situation? With Senator Conroy? ... I think he's already upset quite a few people around the country, he wouldn't notice a few more that don't like him or his policies!
