SimonNo10 Posted November 1, 2008 Posted November 1, 2008 (edited) Hi all. I'm pretty sure this question has come up before but I went through 10 pages in this section but couldn't see anything that related. Basically my brother is wanting to upgrade his current setup which is an all in one 5.1 system. He has just purchased a 50inch plasma and wants to get a receiver (I recommended the Denon 789) and 5 speakers and then sub. Unfortunatly his budget for just the 5 speakers is $1000.00 not incluing the Sub that will have to come later. He really wants small speakers that can be placed on his lowline unit so there not on the floor so were talking cube things or what Kef have. I have searched on the net but thought this is one of the best places for advice as there might be some owners out there that have to make compromises like my brother and contend with the WAF . If there are 5.1 systems out there that include the sub that is around the $1000-$1200 that's cool as well, but he doesn't want an all in one system with amp and dvd player as he has just purchased a Pioneer dvd player. All suggestions are welcome so fire away and thanks in advance Edited November 1, 2008 by SimonNo10

rocky500 Posted November 2, 2008 Posted November 2, 2008 (edited) Hey fish you know this is a Aussie site don't you? Prices in America don't apply here. Heck Amazon has the Denon AVR-1909 for $584!. Also RRP prices are a joke. Just look at Ebay with Projector screens! I do like the look of the Energy Set though. Edited November 2, 2008 by rocky500
SimonNo10 Posted November 2, 2008 Author Posted November 2, 2008 (edited) Yes that Energy setup looks very nice and great price. I have forwarded this to my brother. Thanks for finding that Dr Rod and thanks for the positive feedback on them Franin those will suit his plasma being a gloss black and small enough to not be too intrusive. Cheers Struggo Thats a damn good price. Anyone know how they compare to Wharfedale Diamond 5.1 setup? Or the Q Acoustics 5.1 setup?
Ejay Posted November 5, 2008 Posted November 5, 2008 (edited) sorry to hijack this thread, but how do you reckon Energy Take 5 would compare to KEF 3005 speakers sound quality wise? I know that KEF speakers is 3 times the price, but if energy take 5 sounds as good I don't feel like paying such a premium for Kef's. Edited November 5, 2008 by Ejay
