aussieboy2010 Posted October 31, 2008 Posted October 31, 2008 I dunno, the HD just isn't quite as clear as I expected it to be. I'm watching Terminator 2 atm, i just switched over from the FoxHD to the FTA channell and the FTA 10HD def seemed a tad more crisper. the 10HD through the IQ just seemed a bit fuzzier. Is this normal?
Brad.. Posted October 31, 2008 Posted October 31, 2008 are you using HDMI what sort of tv do you have
chrig Posted October 31, 2008 Posted October 31, 2008 What sort of TV are you using? Also, what sort of connection between the STB and the TV? Have you adjusted the picture settings on the tv for the input of the STB, as most tvs these days have different memories for different inputs and the inbuilt HD tuner could be different from the STB input I dunno, the HD just isn't quite as clear as I expected it to be.I'm watching Terminator 2 atm, i just switched over from the FoxHD to the FTA channell and the FTA 10HD def seemed a tad more crisper. the 10HD through the IQ just seemed a bit fuzzier. aussieboy2010 Posted October 31, 2008 Author Posted October 31, 2008 hey guys, thanks for the responses. the connection should be through HDMI, that's what i told the technician to do. tv is 50inch pioneer Kuro LX50
Sambo90 Posted November 1, 2008 Posted November 1, 2008 Why are you testing it on Ten HD, try some of the Foxtel HD channels. They are 24/7 HD.

aussieboy2010 Posted November 1, 2008 Author Posted November 1, 2008 What does this message mean: "Due to HDCP support not being detected from your TV this program cannot be viewed" When I first switch on the tv, occasionally the above message appears in a box over the program in the background. When I press "back" on the remote, the message goes away. Cheers.

When I press "back" on the remote, the message goes away. Cheers. The message just shows up while your TV turns on as the TV needs to establish a HDCP connection to the IQ2, my TV does the same thing. You dont need to push the back button, the message goes away as soon as the TV establishes HDCP
Shonky* Posted November 2, 2008 Posted November 2, 2008 And look a lot better than FTA HD I disagree. The FTA HD can look very good. Have a look at the NFL on Ten HD for a start. That said the Foxtel HD channels are always HD content whereas some of the stuff on Ten HD isn't always a HD source.

In the event of a HDCP error the message being displayed will be more useful than a black screen which will be displayed if the error is disabled. Setting it to no warnings will not make anything happen differently, there will just be a black screen for a few seconds rather than a HDCP error message.

I disabled it as I got sick of other users continually asking what it meant and why is it there? I should keep it in mind should the HDCP "Handshake" is not successful and there is a black screen. Although (without checking) I think my Panel (Panasonic 42PZ800A) also confirms a successful HDMI connection. Edit - This comment (after checking) about the panel confirming HDMI connection would appear to be a bit inaccurate. Graeme Edited November 2, 2008 by gravey
aussieboy2010 Posted November 2, 2008 Author Posted November 2, 2008 just flicking between FTA 10HD and Foxtel 10HD....while watching Aussie Idol FTA 10HD is definately more crisp in terms of picture. ESPN HD is def more crisp than the normal ESPN. when i first had my Kuro installed i gave the technician a bunch of settings to set on the tv (settings that were advised from this forum and AVForum), im thinking that the the manual settings have been put in for DTV but not for AV1. so FTA tv is better simply because the settings havent been optimised for AV1 (Which i run foxtel through). could that be the reason why there is a difference between FTA HD and Fox HD?? cheers.
VenomX2 Posted November 2, 2008 Posted November 2, 2008 does the picture quality improve if using a "better" HDMI cable then the one supplied?

We also have foxtel HD. I am not sure if this has anything to do with it, but even when I switch to free to air television it continues to do this. ANy suggestions? Is it a samsung problem, a foxtel problem or a cable problem?????

It registers before displaying a signal. Google HDCP and you'll find a more in depth answer to what HDCP is. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High-bandwidt...tent_Protection

Does anyone have any advice on what we can try, to fix this. I have emailed samsung, and will trying phoning them tomorrow/ thanks for any help

ozasis Posted October 25, 2009 Posted October 25, 2009 I'd say it's more likely to be your foxtel box itself rather than your tv or the cable. I used to have the issue every now and then, but it would correct itself pretty quickly. I've not had it come up at any time other than startup since the last few firmware upgrades, but that could be purely coincidence. If it stays happening and you cannot watch tv at all, call foxtel and let them know your box is playing up.

Thanks for your reply everyone....I think i upgraded the firmware on foxtel, I pressed select and back at the same time, then powered on and off (I got this from another thread). I did this a copuple of hours ago, and it hasnt happened since. Previously it was losing reception about every 15 minutes. Fingers crossed. Thanks ofr your advice
kanamint Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 What type of IQ Box do you need in order to get HD Channels? Is it the IQ1 or IQ2? And how is it connected to your TV? Through an HDMI Cable?
