Just thought I'd return the favour of those who share their pictures for others information and pleasure.

The room is an (undesirable by experts) 6mx6m square room but my speakers fill the room nicely and as you can see I am able to use the room in the daytime quite well but it excels at night when it is used most.

Nice work, very nice.

Looks very spacious and comfortable as well.

nice, but are there any seats that face the screen?

The Natuzzi recliner you see in pics was until a few days ago. Now shopping for some new individual seats...

No Centre Speaker?

Mark

On backorder and expected in two weeks. You can see the wall plate ready for it. Need to find a nice stand or cabinet of some sort for it too.

I have another one I could use but haven't bothered.

The side and back surrounds are dipoles.

Lovely comfortable set-up there phreek :) I'm all for combo rooms that let you do more than one thing with limited space in a house!

Great to see the scope up and running too, what PJ and lens are you using?

Cheers,

Curious

Yeah the combo media room thing was what we wanted to use this room for from the start. We've got plenty of space though... just that we wanted a multi-function room to make the most of it.

It's an upstairs room and the one side of the room has a 4.5m sliding door setup that opens out onto a balcony. The blockout curtains do a fair job of light control and the picture as you can see is very watchable. Even the black levels are not bad relatively speaking. Look at Will Smiths collar area in the driving shot and compare it to the black of the screen edge. Or Leonidas' beard hair colour in relation to the frame.

It's still a work in progress.

The area near the TV and the whole back wall that you see behind the projector in one of those shots will become a built in shelves and cabinet type setup; becoming a library area with a table/bench with computer and chaise for relaxed reading etc. The area near the TV will house all my DVDs and BDs.

I'm just using zooming at the present. The lack of any apparent light outside the frames is due to the ambient light. It's hardly visible in a darkened room either though. The light coloured walls has enough reflectance that its not an issue at all. As its a multifunction room we decided against dark colours and to be honest the image is stunning anyway. We watch the movie and not the picture if you know what I mean. I'm beyond nit-picking image details etc nowadays.

The projector is an Epson TW2000. No special lens. The throw distance is 3.2 metres and on maximum zoom fills the 100" scope screen as you see there. The screen is an Oztheatre Majestic Evo3D with velour. No ISF calibration... I haven't bothered even attacking it with my Spyder... just an AVIA setup and it's got great colours out of the box. The colour mode I use in the daytime is "Natural" with the bright bulb setting. At night I use the x.v.color with low bulb setting and it's amazing.

On normal 16:9 material we have the equivalent of an 80" screen and it's plenty big watched at 3m for us :)

At nights the 50" Pioneer plasma on the far wall is watched at about 5 metre distance for general TV. Anything worthwhile we record on the Beyonwiz and watch on the projector. All switched via an Octava 3x2 matrix HDMI switch.

It would be even better if you can cut down on the light leaking through wish I had a room like that

cheers laurie
