Hi,

Just wondering if someone can advice..... where can I but some quality speaker cables (Monster or similar) in Brisbane?

Cheers

Sorry, mate, can't help you regarding where to purchase, but for good-quality loudspeaker cables, definitely look at The Chord Company (UK) loudspeaker cables. The Chord Company Carnival SilverScreen retails for approximately $20.00 per metre but can be had for about $15.00-$16.00 per metre after haggling.

Otherwise, if you are looking at higher-end loudspeaker cables, The Chord Company has stunning higher-end loudspeaker cables, too.

Seriously mate, unless this post is a gee-up, stay clear of Monster.

Price does not equal quality.

I'm not even going to say the "M" word...

Pop on down to Sunnybank Hi-Fi and ask for Chau. She knows her stuff and will only recommend cables that will do your speakers justice.

Their number is 3216 9166

Good luck with it.

There is nothing essentialy wrong with the product (its just the business ethics).

Regardless of which I use Gecko 12awg bannana plug cables (like $70 for the pair of 2 metre cords) to connect my neuphonix and the only improvement I can make is either by using a better source (my neighbours considerable better denon source gear) or a better quality power amp over my parasound. Just for fun I 'borrowed' some alternative cabling around twice the price bracket and there was little discernable difference. I'm a firm believer of science and I sincerly doubt in many snake oi.... I mean cabling companys claims.

That being said I can see the point of having 'better' quality cabling if say I had 50k worth of speaker if only because 100$ worth on cabling would just seem unbalanced.

(runs for cover).

i bet if you tried some $3/m Jaycar speaker cable you wouldn't be able to tell a huge difference either ;)

Thanks all for responses.

Dan, I have seen and heard about Chord while in UK. I will check them out.

Also, I am living on the wrong side of the city for Sunny Bank HiFi but may pay a visit during the weekend.

Cheers
