Guest Posted October 28, 2008 Posted October 28, 2008 With regard to the Q Acoustics give Capricorn Marketing in North Perth a ring - they are the local WA distributors for Q.

leven Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 Am looking at getting either of the above. Does anyone know where in Perth WA I can find them and whats the best price for the complete 5.1 setup. Thanks Hello, I don't know if you're looking for bookshelf speakers, but I bought 4 Wharfedale 9.1s and a 9CS centre for $1050 from JB Hifi Cannington - I don't know how much for a Wharfedale sub though...lots of them on eBay. When I get my act together I'll get a pair of Rel T3 subs for the Wharfedales... Cheers
samps Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 I bought a pair of Wharfedale Diamond 9.2 and a 9.CS for $550 delivered off eBay and set them up last night. Absolutely stunning speakers for the money. Very natural sounding with tons of detail. Thoroughly recommended.
pasty Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 I bought most of my Wharfedale gear (CM centre, SW250 sub and 4 x 9.1 surrounds) from West Coast HiFi in Osi Park, I bought my 9.6 towers off ebay for $700 delivered. The whole 7.1 set up cost well under $3k and I've been very happy with it.
samps Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 Pasty, did you notice any change in the sound after the run in period? Wharfedale suggests 50 hrs for this. Also bi-wiring, again have you done this and does it sound any different? I'm dubious about it myself. Cheers

I noticed however, after week two, I listened to the same DnB albums as I did in week one and the bass was more defined and noticeable so the woofers didn't sound as tight. They sounded great. During that time I hadn't moved the speakers positioning so at least I know the change in sound wasn't due to that. I tried out the 9.1's using my Rotel pre-pro, I remember playing Suntoucher by Groove Armada, sounded sweet to me, lots of bass from these tiny speakers. They now reside as surrounds, and I think that even though they're a cheap speaker they're awesome and probably wasted as a surround speaker. As for bi-wiring, when I had my Yamaha RXV1600 I had them "bi-amped" using the front channels and the surround rear channels, I didn't notice a difference. When I bought my Rotel RB1080 I used that for a while to power my fronts and had them bi-wired, that sounded great. Now I just use a Yamaha RXV3800 and have them wired normally, to be honest this sounds fine to me.

For under $1400 you can get four of the much bigger 9.2 speakers (better mid/bass), the mid-sized 9CS centre and the SW150 sub, so unless you've got a very small room... why go for the 9.0 speaker setup? The eBayer I bought from gets them straight from the Wharfedale distributor in Sydney and was great to deal with. His phone number is in the ad and he's very knowledgeable so maybe give him a call?
