Hi All ,

Just pruchased an SVS 20-39 pc plus sub which has a single band PEQ fitted and was wondering how to best use this in conjunction with the Denons EQ features.

Should I get the sub eq set up with first then use then Denons room EQ or vice versa.

I have been trying find the Rives Audio test CD which is corrected for the radio shack meter I bought but the outlets in the states want USD $24 dollars for shipping when the disc is only USD $21! Anybody know of a source that has reasonable shipping or has one they would like to sell me?

I have found that prior to the subwoofers arrival the room EQ made a noticable (subtle) improvement in my room .

My Denons still in for warranty work (3 weeks so far) so I am using my Marantz SR7500 for now.

Does the Avia DVD have the necessary tones (uncorrected OK) to set up the PEQ ?

Just finished reading all 20 odd pages of the audio calibration Sticky thanks to Mark and the rest who contributed for a great resource.

Thanks Brendon

I probably wouldn't use the Denon auto EQ stuff before playing with the sub. Otherwise the Denon will correct it (as it thinks it should be) and then you'll go and change things on the sub. It might be worth trying both ways. You might like to tweak the sub a bit after using the auto EQ.

Thats what I was thinking.

Can anybody shed any light on what the lower spec audessy systems in the 2808 are capable of correcting in general and also with the sub.

Ie how many bands or if the supplied microphone is effective measuring the subs output.?

Thanks for the reply Shonky.

brendon you have a choice. and I would try both ways.

one you could just bypass the peq on the svs and jsut let the audyssey in the 2808 do its thing.

alternatively you could use the peq in the svs to take care of maybe any major issue you might have and then run audessey over the top of it. this will free up the audyssey resources to do the final touches and work on other part of the freq spectrum.

its what I'm doing and its what was suggested by chris from audyssey and curtc of velodyne with my velo DD with its built in sms room eq.

if not being able to get much out of the the svs's peq or if dont have too many room dramas you might be better off just letting the audyssey do its thing.

Cheers Alebonau,

As you point experiment will be the order of the day ,Setting the sub first does make sense.
