Hi guys after owning this lovely turntable for a while the time has come to sell. have taken it pretty much to its limits and time to move onwards and upwards.

It has collectors status and is a special edition edition rega brought out to celebrate their 25th anniversary and has much of the technology build and styling from their top of their range rega p9. I am selling the turntable here in complete and in original mint condition including a mid range quality moving coil stylus in the ortofon mc10 supreme (cost new $500). In cost and performance it falls between a rega p5 and a p7 but with some of the panache of a p9. I have it with original box, packaging and manual and could ship anywhere in Australia at buyers cost.

the review below sums up the rega 25 well

http://www.soundstage.com/vinyl/vinyl051999.htm

basically as the review very succintly puts it the "P25 makes up at least 75% of the detail difference between the VPI/RB300 and the P9, and 90% of the musical difference" which is extraordinary I think and well backed up in my own upgrades I have done myself with it.

can read here my phono pre upgrades which proved to me how well the deck could do with a really nice current audio research ph5 valve phono pre utilising the ortofon mc10 supreme

and this thread here recently on the quality of stylus the p25 can handle going right up the ortofon tree in the jubilee

some good pictures and notes on my p25 here on the drhifi website which james there posted after how wrapped he was with my deck

http://www.drhifihousecalls.com.au/Hi-Fi/R.../Rega%20P25.htm

for price I have been suggested by rega ortofon dealers that with a collectors item in the mint condition my deck is should get me anything between $1500-$2,000. to give indication, a little while back one in mint condition, diss-assembled without a phono cartridge went on ebay for $1700 so would hopefully expect something like that.

I think it would suit someone looking for a mid range turntable that is complete and which theyd be quite happy with, even with a affordable phono stage leaving the door open for future upgrades in either phono stage or stylus to make for a very decent deck :)

If in melbourne I am happy to demo, until probably this sunday where it will be packed away in its original box and stored away until it sells.

another good shot of my p25 here. click on it to expand.

something been slowly workign upto over the years...

hopefully something that leaves no longer questions of what if's. will certainly not be the best turntable ever, whatever that is ? and sure everyone has their own ideas on what that is !. but anyways been demoing a while now, will be to my budgetary means and needs/preferences hopefully something really enjoy for a while bringing great enjoyment as the p25 has done for me here :)

Coil Sprung heavyweight ?

A Townshend "The Rock" a mighty fine TT.

New MP3 player ?

hehe got the mp3 player :P

"The Rock" kills most 99% of turntables dead just need the silicone fluid for the arm track. Send us the invite for the audition AC-DC Black Ice.

Good luck with the sale Al. I’m almost interested in buying it myself; the trouble is the cost of the associated pre amp and new material to play on it.

G'day Al

In short, I loved this turn table when I heard it.

And if anyone is looking for a turntable like this, I cannot recommend it (or Al :) ) strongly enough.

If I had the $ available, I would but it.

Why is it, that as soon as you spend your money on one thing, a more desirable thing becomes available? Grrrr...

Good luck with the sale Al.

thanks for the nice words guys :), will see how this goes otherwise will stick it on ebay maybe week after melb cup

spearmint, your quite right if buying a TT the cost of phono stage plus the record collection defintely something to consider. my self when got back into vinyl a few years ago, I covetted my parents collection..all that music I grew up with.. so didnt cost me a cent ! hehe. collection has steadily grown since then though. the cost of records can vary greatly from a buck each at garage sales and op shops and a bit of gold to be found out there, or alternatively around $10-$20 will buy graded mint condition records from the likes of dixons recycled. buying new is most expensive $20 upwards. some fantastic stuff out there though :) for a phono stage world is yoru oyster can start cheap with either with a built in phono stage or mid range mf xlps for instance, its what I started out with and would work well with a TT of this type as the ortofon mc10 supreme is of relatively high output making it not so fussy on phono stages. anyways more info in my phono pre thread.

mr happy pants was great that night you came over, very much enjoyed the time having a few beers and listenign to a few records and CDs . must catch up again :) hopefully once things settle down for me. ps did you end up stealing your rega back from your brother ? :)

Thanks Al. Yes it was fun.

Congrats on your sale.

No, my brother told me something like "Pi$$ off!. You'll have to wait til I die first." :o

He has left it and his vinyl collection to me in his will.

But I think he's gonna live for a while yet, so a bought an entry level Pro-ject to start with.

Even with the Pro-ject, I am VERY happy to be playing vinyl again. :D

It took me 15 years to move to CD, but only 10 to move back to vinyl.

haha like your brothers sense of humour !

great to hear your back on the vinyl again. I pretty much moved to CD in its early years. the record player and records at my parents place were all jsut put away and forgotten until 17 years later. love it that some of those old records still sound so wonderfull ! especially some now nearly 50 years old ! :D
