DansDans Posted October 22, 2008 Posted October 22, 2008 I just picked up what I consider to be an awesome bargain. While browsing the game shops at lunch time, I stopped by GAME in Canberra city. Looking through their pre-owned section I stumbled across a ‘pre-owned’ copy of Bioshock on PS3 – with a price tag to $54.98! Shocked, I grabbed the game and took it to the counter – and they confirmed the price for me! Get this – it’s a sealed US version. Never been opened. Apparently it belonged to a guy who worked at 2K games here in Canberra who didn’t own a PS3, and they traded it in not knowing the retail value at the time. They told me it had been sitting there for a few days and no one had noticed. I wanted this game – and for that price there was no way I could say no Has anyone else had cheap accidental games experiences before?
Guest Posted October 22, 2008 Posted October 22, 2008 Dont know about accident but I picked up Fifa UEFA 2008 earlier this year day after release for $20 in the second-hand bin at Game! Was chuffed!
Sicarius123 Posted October 22, 2008 Posted October 22, 2008 That sounds rediculous, especially with most pre-owned PS3 games being $10 under retail. Good find! Generally I refuse to buy pre-owned as I'd rather pay the $10 more for a new copy.

DansDans Posted October 22, 2008 Author Posted October 22, 2008 I agree, without a decent discount you may as well buy the new copy. Well the best part is this copy of Bioshock wasnt used - its was still sealed in plastic
Sicarius123 Posted October 22, 2008 Posted October 22, 2008 I thought they weren't meant to trade imports? Or is that just EB and JB?
DansDans Posted October 22, 2008 Author Posted October 22, 2008 I thought they weren't meant to trade imports? Or is that just EB and JB? Everyone takes PS3 games as they are region free. I traded in my uncut US version of Dark Sector to EB for $45AU
the_wonderchild Posted October 22, 2008 Posted October 22, 2008 Great buy mate, and an astonishingly good purchase! I've had a couple decent trade bargains in the past; i think i've mentioned them in the past, so i won't run the risk of boring people again unless asked.
Scramble Posted October 22, 2008 Posted October 22, 2008 Best bargains I've gotten are getting Assassins Creed and MGS4, less than a month after their release for $50 each. They were both in unbelievably good condition too. Screw paying retail unless you really can't wait.

I am always interested in bargains And Scramble they were terrific pick ups too!
the_wonderchild Posted October 23, 2008 Posted October 23, 2008 (edited) No no.. tell us about them! I am always interested in bargainsAnd Scramble they were terrific pick ups too! Well, like i mentioned they weren't 'specific bargains', more inventive purchases. Anyways, first up was COD4 on 360 (like day two of release). Got it for free after trading in 3x360 games. That might sound like nothing...apart from the fact i went out and picked up the 3 games only minutes before at EB in a B2G1F deal for $50 all up, only to trade them in a matter of minutes later to JB. The games were PDZ, Kameo and Quake....none of which i had a vested interest in keeping. Other good deal i got was last November at GAME, when i traded in my original xbox and ~12 games or so (1 of which was a 360 game) to get the PS3 for $263 (about $450 off the RRP at the time). Had i looked to trade elsewhere, i would have been lucky to reach $200 in trade-in/cash. Edit - both items were new too. Edited October 23, 2008 by the_wonderchild

Starting to think that i paid $19.95 too much!! Hmmm....it's not even much use as a paperweight. coaster maybe? I picked up Scene It? with the 4 buzzers from EB for $30. The 8x AA batteries included in the pack would have been worth half of that. It was hardly a one-off though as every EB I came across had heaps of these in stock.
Raja Posted October 23, 2008 Posted October 23, 2008 .......................coaster maybe? Nah! There are better and cheaper coasters out there!
lilc Posted October 23, 2008 Posted October 23, 2008 burnout paradise and simpsons for $12 each on ps3 and 360 recently
Sicarius123 Posted October 23, 2008 Posted October 23, 2008 burnout paradise and simpsons for $12 each on ps3 and 360 recently That new or pre-owned? If new what store?
George121503561853 Posted October 23, 2008 Posted October 23, 2008 I think that was at Harvey Norman (could be wrong) they had those 2 games for $20 each.
jl1814 Posted October 23, 2008 Posted October 23, 2008 That new or pre-owned? If new what store? for $12, even pre-owned is worth it hehe
lilc Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 was when HN had BP and simpsons for 20 bucks.. Kmart has a policy where they beat competitors by 10% of the price difference. They were selling both @ 100 at gthe time.. with the $80 dollars difference they took another 8 bucks off.. hence 12 bucks.... They were good to use as trade bait ; )
