diesel Posted October 21, 2008 Posted October 21, 2008 Just a heads up. In today's telegraph in Sydney, there is an ad for Domayne having a 5 hour sale tonight. Amongst the specials I see an LG (42LG61YD) 42" Full HD LCD for $1994 + a bonus 26" LG LCD (26LG30D) valued at $898. They are also offering IF terms of 15 months. Not sure how that compares as I don't really follow LCD threads, but thought I would post it anyways. Also, not sure if they are LG model numbers or Domayne catalogue numbers.
kulfi Posted October 21, 2008 Posted October 21, 2008 I think LG is offering the 26" LCD by redemption (brings back bad memories of the "Samsung redemption LCD not received" thread). This offer was matched earlier by Clive Peeters who were throwing in a free Nintendo Wii to sweeten the deal. If somebody wants to give the LG a go, I'd say push Myer or someone else to toss in the Wii or offer a discount, just to beat Domayne (they're like Zimbabwe's cricket team when it comes to making deals - beaten by everyone).
Guest EZYHD Posted October 21, 2008 Posted October 21, 2008 I think LG is offering the 26" LCD by redemption (brings back bad memories of the "Samsung redemption LCD not received" thread). and Free Sony PS3 shermozzel. The guys buying Epson PJ's waited months too for their free screen, had the unit showing on a wall in the meantime, what a joke. One would think the suppliers would send these free promo items to retailers to supply customers direct, this redemption thing is ridiculous.
kulfi Posted October 21, 2008 Posted October 21, 2008 One would think the suppliers would send these free promo items to retailers to supply customers direct, this redemption thing is ridiculous. Cashback is even worse. Please allow 6-9 weeks for delivery of your cheque. It takes 9 seconds to print a cheque.

People forget to redeem and the manufacturer ends up selling more TVs but often less than half have their redemption claimed.

I'd understand if it was a $10 cashback cheque or similar - it would slip people's minds or they just wouldn't bother but a 26" LCD? At Dick Smith they had the LG 47" LCD for $2299 as well with free 26" LCD which sounded like a pretty good deal. I'm sorry, don't know what exact model it was but it was the Scarlet one with the hole in the middle.

The Domayne deal is for the 42" TV-with-the-hole, so it makes the DSE price look like a steal for the 47". About the cashback/redemption, I'd say only one thing about those who forget or are too lazy - "You snooze, you lose".

If one can incorporate that Wii deal from Clive Peeters you mentioned above, they'd be absolutely laughing. Say, $2300 - $800 (for the 26" LCD) - $400 (for the Wii) = $1100 net for the latest 47" LCD! Even without the Wii, still sounds pretty good. From what I've read, I think owners have been generally happy with these Scarlet TV's.

Not that I care about 100Hz technology but some people do. The best way to grab the 47" LCD deal would be to walk into a Myer and politely chat with the sales staff to work something out. I've had a lot of success with them and don't see why others shouldn't benefit from the same approach.

Rather than demanding "What's your best price!"
strayan Posted December 20, 2008 Posted December 20, 2008 bonus 26" LG LCD (26LG30D) valued at $898. They are also offering IF terms of 15 months. Can anyone confirm whether this model supports 1:1 pixel mapping?
frog_A_lot Posted December 20, 2008 Posted December 20, 2008 and Free Sony PS3 shermozzel. Although on the second PS3 Redemption offer i got my PS3 within a month of buying my TV
ageha Posted December 20, 2008 Posted December 20, 2008 Can anyone confirm whether this model supports 1:1 pixel mapping? You can find that information in the manual. Just download it from LG's page. LG calls the feature "Just Scan".
