Tweet Posted October 19, 2008 Posted October 19, 2008 (edited) Funny how HD DVD is still catered for, maybe there is still some life in it yet? " Plextor Europe sent out a press release this morning, announcing its first external Blu-ray drive. Along with support for both FireWire and USB 2.0, the PX-B920UF features 4x BD-R, 4x BD-R DL and 2x BD-RE writing speeds and is capable of playing back both Blu-ray and HD DVD movies. The drive will be available through European retailers at the end of this month................" http://www.cdrlabs.com/News/plextor-announ...isc-writer.html Home page.........for upcoming technologies.... http://www.cdrlabs.com/ C.M Edited October 19, 2008 by Tweet
191 Posted October 19, 2008 Posted October 19, 2008 I wonder how much cheaper it could have been by removing the two dead formats: HD DVD and Firewire?
hypnotoad8128 Posted October 19, 2008 Posted October 19, 2008 lol. I was thinking the same thing myself! I wonder how much cheaper it could have been by removing the two dead formats: HD DVD and Firewire?
pietro1503559499 Posted October 19, 2008 Posted October 19, 2008 HDDVD may be dead but I have >50 which I play via my HTPC. And I'm sure I'm not alone. I wonder what software comes with the Plextor.

To quote from the article..... "In addition, the drive comes with an editing and burning software package suitable for all users: InterVideo WinDVD8 and Ulead DVD MovieFactory 5.5 SE, and Burn. Now 4.5 SE." C.M
Scramble Posted October 19, 2008 Posted October 19, 2008 Toshiba would still licence out the technology for people who have bought quite a few HD-DVD's (Especially in the fire sales ). I wouldn't be surprised to see a few generic brands carry on HD-DVD for a couple more years until the next format comes out
