Does your new TV dongle have an external antenna connection? These units rely on strong signals to operate properly, usually near main cities, so it may be that your stone cottage dosen't have such strong signals....how do you receive normal TV there? Better off just take home some flowers for the Mrs..well it used to work!

mtv Posted October 22, 2008 Posted October 22, 2008 Yes, it's most likely purely a reception/signal issue. From work, you may be receiving the UHF translators in Grenfell St. Typically, the little antennas supplied with DTV 'dongle' tuners are next to useless, unless there are very strong local signals. Those antennas will work best on UHF frequencies, due to the smaller length of the antenna. At home, you are probably reliant on receiving the main VHF transmissions from Mt Lofty, which the little antenna will be much less likely to receive... particularly indoors with stone walls. Try connecting the receiver to your external antenna.. you will need to re-scan the channels.
