Would anyone here like the wonedrfuly opportunity of lending me their SPL meter, so I can cal my HT room?

If not, are any going cheap?

I do not really want to buy one for $50 and only use it once.

Sorry wrong end of the country, on a side note why would you use it only once ? Heck I use it even trying SWMBO yells at me just to prove she's louder than a jet engine lol.

You can get them cheaper if you shop/look around. I got one out of the US that cost me around $25 all up (yes including postage lol) thats even c weighted and has a hold function for testing peaks. But regardless of price I think they are worth it even if only used once to have your system set-up well, will cost you more to have someone come out and do a half ass'd job. The other thing is you may well find you use it more than once as every time you change the room or speaker placement in some way it should be re-done. The other option is sell it after your done and recover most of your money. With some luck someone will be local and be able to lend you but if not it's worth getting one, heck we pay thousands (to tens of thous) for our gear, whats $50 or so to have it set-up correctly ?

This is the RadioShack one cheaper (I bought one - even the instructions mention RadioShack). Price includes delivery but is in USD which obviously makes it a bit more costly than a month or two ago:

you won't regret it, I've used mine many time since I purchased it ... on of the best (and cheapest) investments for my HT room, a properly calibrated system sounds so much better.
