blackattack2003 Posted October 17, 2008 Posted October 17, 2008 Only had IQ2 for a few months now but have been caught out a couple of times where a program I have recorded has missed the last couple of minutes - very frustrating! I assume the IQ2 records a program based on what time the program is supposed to start and finish rather than the time it actually starts and finishes. This is particularly relevant for the free to air channels which sometimes run over time. I have now started to also tape the program following the one I want to ensure I get the whole recording but this is a pain and easy to forget to set if you are in a rush. Am I doing something wrong or has anyone else experienced the same problem? The clock on Foxtel is accurate. Any advice would be appreciated.

loony Posted October 17, 2008 Posted October 17, 2008 sometimes though its 30 mins like the soccer btw is it just me or can u know* record 2 programs and watch another ??? now* On the IQ2 you mean? That was added a few weeks ago now.
e.z Posted October 18, 2008 Posted October 18, 2008 now*On the IQ2 you mean? That was added a few weeks ago now. Even the on-screen EPG is better. Displays later programming info, not just now and next.
blackattack2003 Posted October 20, 2008 Author Posted October 20, 2008 There is a setting within the System Settings to add up to 10 minutes to START/END of recordings.... Thanks Anddy. Appreciate the advise. I will go in and change.
mosblk Posted October 20, 2008 Posted October 20, 2008 (edited) the add-on setting is good. Does it add it as a default to all programs though? One thing the austar DVR does have right, is allowing u to add a couple of minutes to any scheduled recording individually. Handy if u want to add 5 mins to the simpsons, but 30mins to the football. Dunno if IQ2 could add this in a firmware update at some point. Or maybe it already has it but i've yet to work it out Edited October 20, 2008 by mosblk
marco1968 Posted October 21, 2008 Posted October 21, 2008 You can "Custom Record & Link" through Active>System Set Up for shows that you know traditionally finish late, even more than the 10 minutes which IQ2 allows you to set up. Only bummer is you do not get the name of the show in the planner but at least you'll probably have all the recording! Cheers Marco

I tried the thingy added extra time to recording but as you say some go 20 or 30 mins overtime ! but eventually you just get used to taping the following show . Much safer !
marco1968 Posted October 21, 2008 Posted October 21, 2008 Hiits a pain but I record the next show. I tried the thingy added extra time to recording but as you say some go 20 or 30 mins overtime ! but eventually you just get used to taping the following show . Much safer ! That sounds good, so then do you bother setting a pre or post show buffer as well in your settings? Cheers Marco
gravey Posted October 21, 2008 Posted October 21, 2008 Hiits a pain but I record the next show. I tried the thingy added extra time to recording but as you say some go 20 or 30 mins overtime ! but eventually you just get used to taping the following show . Much safer ! I was doing the same thing, then one of the family would get an interest in the following show, which would obviously also be part recorded so they'd get peed off and want to record the subsequent show Decided that if this went on I'd quickly run out of disc space, so went to custom record. then got into strife for only getting the start of the next show. Only answer, ditch the IQ2, the PVR, the DVD recorder and the plasma go back to a 68cm CRT on analogue (remember when that was luxury?) - Oh dear are they not turning that off next year some time. Please send the men in white coats. Just trying to express frustration with this whole EPG thing, although seriously Fox, SBS and ABC normally are pretty accurate. Graeme
youngster Posted October 21, 2008 Posted October 21, 2008 does anyone know why the personal planner doesn't allow you to plan what you watch for the entire week anymore? as of today, my planner is only letting me add 12 program max. very frustrating
