pugmahorn Posted October 15, 2008 Posted October 15, 2008 I have had long term issues with my IQ2 picture and audio being out of sync. The problem is so subtle, I have doubts that a technician would pick it up. At times it is more noticeable than at other times. Sometimes it's obvious. I have asked my friends their opinion and they tend to agree that it is in fact out of sync. I have a Sony Bravia XBR 52" LCD. The IQ2 connects via the supplied HDMI cable. My TV is in sync when it runs through the regular non foxtel broadcast. I am well aware that you can adjust the delay of the digital audio out. That is a different issue entirely. I am only concerned with my HDMI connection. I have tried a few experiments and it seems that the delay still occurs using component/composite but it's difficult to be 100% sure. Does anyone have this same problem? I would appreciate any advice from the geniuses on this forum.

It's kind of annoying to listen 24/7 to my home theatre. I dont know about other people but I like use my home theatre only for watching movies. Thanks for the suggestion thouhg. So, I'm getting the impression that I am virtually the only one who is having this problem. Could it be a faulty IQ2 boc?
foovo Posted October 15, 2008 Posted October 15, 2008 When the IQ2 first came out it had FTA HD audio sync problems. Then they came out with firmware that for the most part fixed the problem. Unfortunately, my experience has been that the new firmware that supports the extra tuner has also caused the audio sync problems to return. Particularly noticeable on 7HD but present on the others as well. One day they'll get it right.
Guest att Posted October 16, 2008 Posted October 16, 2008 I had the problem when I first got my IQ2 and found that using component instead of HDMI resolved the issue. A later firmware upgrade seemed to have mostly resolved the lip sync issue and I went back to using HDMI for a number of months. However with the release lof the atest firmware and fourth tuner I have noticed that the problem has returned and it happens randomly on any given channel. Will try via component again and see how it goes. Very frustrating. Not sure where this stands with Foxtel, but I will report the issue and see what sort of feedback I get. Has anyone else spoken to foxtel on this since the last firmware release?

Will be calling foxtel tomorrow to complain - we have both an IQ and an IQ2 at home - the issue is there on the IQ2 and not the IQ.

Guest Bonky Posted June 11, 2009 Posted June 11, 2009 im having this out of sync audio on the HD channels as well.Taped 24 on channel7 HD and it was out of sync .Not everything is ,but when it is its annoying.I also taped Spooks on ABC HD and that was out of sync as well.Ive worked in TV for over 20 years and i would suggest it a broadcast problem.Anyone else still having this problem?
sirhc55 Posted June 11, 2009 Posted June 11, 2009 I’ve had no problems at all from the IQ2 with out of sync sound. But, I do use optical for sound seeing as how Foxtel can’t even get the HDMI to pass Dolby.

Spoke with Foxtel this morning. The reboot and reconnnecting of HDMI cable did nothing to fix issue. The Foxtel guy said he had had a few people call with same issue, so they are sending out an engineer next week. Also the audio delay option to fix sync issues does not work with the HDMI output, only optical/digital out. Not happy that Foxtel would release a product with such a serious technical flaw - and charge me for the pleasure. Also had our old IQ1 box moved upstairs and last night it made a loud noise, switched off and then rebooted. The Foxtel guy said a few people had phoned about this problem today and that the box needs to be replaced with a newer version of IQ1 box. Obviously an upgrade they sent out has caused this problem. Really not very happy with Foxtel at the moment.
