Okay haven't read the links, they could have all the answers, but have you considered it may be the room that is bright? The room makes a big difference to the sound, any chance the environment is the issue?

Well yeah thats another issue.... the room is fairly big being around 11metres long and 6 metres wide, 4.5 metres high..its tilled and since its not my place - there are tables and chairs everywhere...lets just say the woman likes to clutter the place up a bit...

That was another though but everywhere i sit i get a different listening experience...bloody hell its hard...thats why i was wondering if anyone knew someone that could come and do it as im not an expert at this..

Cheers

Set it up for the sweet spot and don't let anyone else sit there but you!! :P

lol, not as silly as it sounds. There are also lots of things you can do that are not permanent to get rid of those hard reflective surfaces, rugs, curtains....etc. have a look through some of the room acoustics threads for ideas.

From memory the Dali Ikons have ribbon tweeters which aren't as forgiving when you want a large sweet spot. It's quite normal to get a different sound image from different locations in pretty much any set-up. heck sit in one spot and then tild your head a few degrees and you will have a different listening position. Lyle's comment is actually quite a good one, set things up for where you listen most. But do look at what reflection and standing wave problems you might have and try to eliminate as much issues as you can. There's always a compromise when theirs a SWMBO in the room, lol I find a extremely powerful system helps as I blame my bad hearing for not hearing her instructions rolf.
