Mjr69 Posted October 14, 2008 Posted October 14, 2008 Yesterdays update to AVG (when run) gives a false positive that the ZoneAlarm firewall contains a trojan - it doesn't - but it will remove components of your firewall making you vulnerable to real virii and even delete the executable file and any replacement ZA you download. It is a simple fix - go to the AVG control panel and choose Components/Resident Shield and then click Manage exceptions and browse to the residing Windows32 ZoneAlarm directory, click save changes and all is fine. As I wasn't aware of the problem and I couldn't restore the ZA files it took me ages to get everything back together again.
Mr.Bitey Posted October 14, 2008 Posted October 14, 2008 Hmm that sounds nasty! Glad im not using either Cheers, Bitey

Sounds like a nasty bug in the AVG program, I currently use AVG but not Zone Alarm, I have never liked it.
Mr.Bitey Posted October 15, 2008 Posted October 15, 2008 Make the switch over to avira - it actually works Comodo do a good free firewall too (and resident malware scanner called boclean), their antivirus isnt up to scratch yet tho. Cheers, Bitey
