This will be the last time i advertise it.

I auditioned a pre-amp today which did some things differently to the supratek that suited me, but there were a couple of things i also preferred about the supratek.

So either way i am happy to keep the supratek or change over.

With that been said, i now offer the supratek up for sale, but if the other pre-amp i auditioned today sells, i will remove this from sale.

The price is not negotiable, and what i am replacing it with is of no concern unless this actually sells, otherwise it won't be replaced.

The pre-amp was just recently serviced by MickM and is in 100% perfect working order.

As before 3 sets of valves will also be included in the sale.

Will ship interstate, but be warned, it is not cheap, will cost around $100 using registered post and insured for the full amount

the pre-amp offers

seperate power supply

HT bypass

gain adjustments

1 x balanced in and 4 x single ended inputs

2 x single ended outputs and 1 x balanced output

also has remote volume control

Front

Top

Power Supply

Rear

With spare tubes

happy to audition it to anyone who is genuine, but please do not waste my time

Asking price $3000 no offers

Al, yes, no mucking about here mate :)

Drizt, yes

it was a huge day out, took the supratek for an inhome audition and it stayed there, then stopped over at spearmints, sat in his gorgeous new seat and listened to his lovely system again....

then popped in to visit LuckyDog, listened to some lovely vinyl (can see why he loves it) even where i dropped the supratek off at, we listened to cd's then switched to vinyl and my comment was leave the vinyl on....so damn tempting i tell you.

Now at home listening to some fine tunes

Sounds like your lost to the vinyl side of the force mate :)

Im still yet to hear anything to convince me yet. Plus I can't be arsed with the effort required. There was plenty of dicking around required to get it all working as it should. Everyone likes different things and im happy for it. Would be boring if everyone liked the same things.

LD's vinyl rig didnt do anything for you drizt ?

as far as "all the dicking around required to get it all working as it should" really depends on the TT in question. some are very easy in the setup, basicaly get the dealer to setup geometry for you and show you the basics - in use theres nothing in them. others more finicky - even nightmares I'd say

agree though, most defintely as said earlier myself as well, appreciate not something for everyone. the discs them selves too not always easily accessible, can vary quite a bit in price & quality as well.

Dont get me wrong it sounded pretty damn good. Just not quite to my taste. The SACD (closer to the music) we listened to through the Marantz, Stello as a pre and Spearmints buffer sounded better to me. Its all subjective and I can live with that. Not trying to convince anyone against TT's. It took us about 20 mins before the TT setup was right to go because of some gunk on the needle (whats its name again?) Everything sounded distorted and wrong... but once it was all cleaned up, well it did sound pretty good. There was still the higher noise floor, some snap crackles and pop. If you can live with that stuff, yeah it does sound pretty good, but its just an inconvenience i couldnt deal with. Nothing personal, just my subjective opinion. Theres just way to many inconveniences for me, and the ultimate sound quality is not better than the ultimate sound quality of digital to my ears.

I've got a big bunch of LP's I paid retail for in the 80's, have carried them around for years, love every 1 of them to death, each in perfect condition, cared for carefully, every one of them - and no, I cant live with that stuff. The craks and pops sh!t me no end.

I guess we are both similar on that account then. :) Sure they did some nice things, but the package as a whole doesn't convince me.

Have you got a thread someone where you can update us on any new additions to your system mate ;)
