So advise to you is to save more money until you budget can purchase a decent 720p projector and then the model you can consider are Mits 1100, Sanyo Z5 and Sony AW15. Buying right now with a budget around $1000 means you will soon regret making that decision. Another option is to keep your eyes on the forum and fleabay you never know that there might be second bargain pop up but with Aussie Dollar in its current shape bargain will be hard to find. You may want to have a look at the BENQ W500 it has good specs vertical and horizontal lens shift and HQV scaler that you would normally find only in $4k+ projectors. It will do a 110" Diagonal screen at 5m as well. Check local Harvey Norman store as they are doing them for a great price - can vary from store to store so shop around.

Volunteer Kazz Posted October 9, 2008 Volunteer Posted October 9, 2008 Its going to be in my room, about 5 meters away from the wall. My room is 3.9 meters (wall to wall) I'm slightly confused is it 5m or 3.9m? What screen size are you looking at? If you go here you can input the pj model you are interested in and see what throw distance you need for the screen size you want.

This and the other ebay link are both in US dollars. They both only state shipping to the US only. Also USD800 = AUD1200ish with the current dollar falling plus count on at least another $100-150 for shipping from the US....

I would avoid the cost of second had as you do not know the state of the lamp and also how many "real" hours have been done. If the machines has been turned off and on many times (so many people I know turn it on off 3/4 times a day which is not good for the lamp) then lamp could go and then you are up for $350 - $500 for a lamp depending on the model. Buy local get the warranty and get it new check out some of the deals going down locally before making a decision. I would check out the Mitsubishi HC1100, Benq W500 or the Epson TW700 the HC1100 performs well but slightly lower in spec. I had a friend who picked up the BenQ W500 from a major retailer for about $1350 BRAND NEW.
Guest jeffpr Posted October 11, 2008 Posted October 11, 2008 i,ve seen new mits 1100 for $1250, if you squeeze audio budget at least you will have new 720p respectable projector. pm for more details. cheers.jeff
eliaswhufc14 Posted October 11, 2008 Author Posted October 11, 2008 theres not many 720p under 1,300 on ebay.
mp2031 Posted October 11, 2008 Posted October 11, 2008 which one of these would be best . Mits 1100, Sanyo Z5 and Sony AW15

quijibo Posted October 11, 2008 Posted October 11, 2008 which one of these would be best . Mits 1100, Sanyo Z5 and Sony AW15 The Z5 is probably the pick of that bunch but you'll pay more for it. But I've never seen the Sony for a cheap price. The mitsubishi is cheap and good. http://www.staticice.com.au/cgi-bin/search.cgi?q=hc1100 The Benq W500 is another cheap projector worth checking out
