coffee78 Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 Running a HTPC with a Gigabyte D2SH and Pioneer S02. HDMI connection from the on-board graphics to the 2nd HDMI port on a Samsung A650. All sources displayed excellent picture quality at full screen. Wasn't getting sound through the HDMI and found BIOS was set to to DVI. So changed the BIOS setting to HDMI. Now have picture and better sound through HDMI. 1920x1080. What's changed is the picture quality. Windows and Firefox are fine. PowerDVD BD plays BD with excellent PQ at full screen. DVDs are excellent at 576. What has changed is that when a DVD is upscaled to full screen, the contrast is shot and the black and colour is washed out. Anybody had a similar problem and found an answer? If I'm not posting this in the correct section. please let me know.
diesel Posted October 9, 2008 Posted October 9, 2008 We have one of them? :-) Sorry, Digital TV Tuner cards....etc sub forum
coffee78 Posted October 12, 2008 Author Posted October 12, 2008 Sorry, Digital TV Tuner cards....etc sub forum Thanks folks, I'll copy the problem to over there. Incidental update for reference. Installed a sat card this weekend. Same quirk with the DTV. Native res = fine. Upsacled to full screen = loses contrast.
