After 15 years olf living in Australia I am off on Tuesday for my first holiday back to my homeland of bonny Scotland.

The trip home is pricipally to see my mum and sis but I will be spending a fair amount of time in Glasgow with all my old mates .

I have organised a Factory tour of Linn Products: http://www.linn.co.uk/

For those who have never heard of the brand:Linn rose to fame in the 70's with their first product the Linn Sondek LP12 turntable , which they still manufacture to this day.

These day's Linn also manufacture some very high quality and very expensive digital and analouge components and full systems and build them in their Award winning factory just outside Glasgow.

I will still be in touch while I am away and hope to send back some interesting pics of the Linn factory and products.

'Speak' to you all on the flipside.

All the best,

Gordon

Whiskey , no not me.I love the stuff but it doesn't love me.

Funny you should mention slipping in a Sondek as I was thinking about seeing if I could pick up one in good condition second hand and having it shipped back :D

Interesting My shipment from the U.K. including Ariston RD11S cost UK 250.00 to Brisbane by sea. The Shipping Agent at Bris then wanted another $1200.00 to ship from Brisbane to Cairns.

Told them to stick it where the sun don't shine so I guess it ended up in a skip.

BTW you been in Oz way too long Whisky is for Scotch Only. Whiskey is for the foreign brown muck that tastes like farmyards.

Well a big howdy from rainy Scotland. The flight went very well and the village my mum lives in is beautifull , even in the rain.

Glasgow is appauling dirty and run down in parts but other parts of the city are beautiful.

Hope everyone at home is well.

Hi guys , hope everyone is hale and hearty.

Having a great time in Glasgow and finding everything surprisingly cheap , especially electronics.

I have decided to extend my holiday to 3 months and am going next week to see about getting a part time job in my mates hi-fi shop. They stock lots of lovely toy's , like Arcam, Chord and Classe , Cyrus etc.

Off to Linn next Wednesday for a listen and factory tour and then I am off to tour the North of Scotland and then the Lake District.

All the best,

Gordon

Good for you Gordon!

I have just returned (Yesterday at 0400) from a 3 month trip to Europe. As I was travelling with my wife we did loads of shopping, unfortunately it was not in Electronic components.

If you can send me an LP12 a piece at a time through the post it would be much appreciated.

After this trip, I hope you will be able to safely negotiate the 12 mile trip to my place!

Ahh....memories. I was lucky enough to tour the UK a couple months back. Made it as far north as Inverness. Scotland really is a work of art and IMHO, the best part of the UK. We didn't want to leave! The Lakes District too was picture postcard stuff, but nothing beats seeing Ben Nevis or any of the lochs along the Great Glen. I actually quite liked Glasgow, although we were only there for two days. Apparently you can get yourself into real trouble by wandering into the wrong part of town or pub with the wrong football jumper on - but all the people we met in Glasgow and Scotland in general were awesome.

Hope you have a wonderful time...

Yes , Goob , had forgotten how pretty the country is and the Glasgow folk are very friendly.Everyone says hello when you are walking down the street.

Well I made two abortive attempts to get to Linn last week.On the first day my mates car shed it's exhaust at a very busy roundabout and we had to wait 2 hrs for the RAC to come along and reattach it.I rebooked for the following day but my mates ex's dog had to be put down and none of us felt like going to Linn.

I have spoken to Richard at Linn and made a provisional booking for later in November.

Still enjoying myself a great deal and looking forward to catching up with my old mate Matt who runs Glasgow Audio on Tuesday.I am looking into getting a part time Job with Matt to help pay for my extended stay.

Hope all you guys and girls are well and not spending toooooo much on new stuff :D , eh! Al

Stop it, you're making me feel all nostalgic ;)

Spent 18 months living in Edinburgh in 2000/2001, been wanting to go back ever since I left.

Enjoy the holiday.
