Wii Hd For 2011

hmm... I haven't heard anything about HD Wii before. Though it would be nice to have to compliment my TV & 5.1 =)

But I thought the whole appeal of the Wii was it's 'simplicity' aka lack of hi tech graphics & Motion Control?

A certian drawcard for those yet to get into the Wii fold, although i'm wondering if this really is a 'new' launch console or a massive hardware upgrade. By that i mean, surely the present Wii's software development will continue to exist even after this comes out around in 2011 and the two co-exist???

This is yet ANOTHER reason why we should all hate Nintendo. 2 years into a console lifespan and they already announce its replacement? Are they ****ing kidding?

Its a desperate act by a company that is seeing its core demographic eroded by the day to the likes of PS3 and XBOX360. Obviously someone at NIntendo has finally realised that:

1) Yeah, people are buying it - but a large bulk of the people buying it are not buying any software and are content with WiiSports and then shelving the machine after a few months

2) Virtually every game is shovelware and almost everyone but Capcom and Sega have stopped making real games for it because real games arent selling

3) They sold too many too quickly and their financial bottom line wont stand up for the next few years

4) They want to make a new Mario game, but as seems to be the new Nintendo tradition its only 1 Mario game per generation

5) They've run out of things to "wii" so they want to "HD" things ie WiiSportsHD, WiiFitHD etc You get the idea yet?

6) Nintendo cant handle the mass piracy of the Wii (or the DS) and are desperate for a solution. I mean almost two years after the release of the PS3 and there is no hack for it to play back up games, no mod chips and no pirate games. Sony have finally done something right, and because of that they are trailing in the sales list

I'm sure there is more. Sorry I felt like ranting about Nintendo

PS - The Virtual Console sucks big time. Master System games come online and there are only 5 titles (good one Sega) - and where are all the fun SNES games?? Sunset Riders (Come on Konami, hurry up with it) and Mortal Kombats etc??

To be the devils advocate, sources on the net are suggestioning Sony has begun getting feedback from developers in designing the PS4 (for release in 2011) which has been rumoured to be an extension of the current cell architecture rather than a complete overhaul. And I would be very suprised if Microsoft dont have plans to release another x box around then too.

2) 2011 will be 5 years after the Wii launched - about standard for a console's lifespan these days. The original Xbox was only around for 4.

3) According to wikipedia the Wii was conceived around the same time the Gamecube was launched. Game companies are always planning ahead, whether we know about it or not.

4) Nintendo make money from every Wii sold, unlike Microsoft and Sony with their respective consoles.

5) Nintendo's only worry is where to store all of their cash.

Who knows, but by 2011 PS2 will be very old, so if they did release a PS4 then it would make sense for the PS3 to continue to sell and replace the role of the PS2. Anyway time will tell with all consoles. Now back to current gaming. Where did I put that copy of LBP......... (I wish!)

That article is just stupid.. basically stating the obvious. Of course Nintendo are working on a new system (And god only hopes that they go HD in 2011) And that would be about the time the new systems would be due. like MCE said.. We would be expecting a console around 2011. Average life span for consoles is 5-6 years.

You dont think that they make a system in less than a year and then mass produce it do you DansDans. They would have been working on the next Nintendo console probably before the Wii hit the shelves. That goes the same for Xbox and PS3.

Yes every consoles is going to get beefed up, HD, 5.1, motion control, smellivision. its only a matter of when.

Even the wiimote is geting an upgrade attachment in the first quarter of next year.

I am mad for Mario Smash Tennis and Shadow the Hedgehog, at the moment, No HD there

They don't connect it wirelessly, buy more controllers and tell the kids they can have a game for fqar off in the distance Christmas. FYI There have been several multiple releases on Marios on a gaming console. How many Mario partys did they release on the NGC or N64, 3 on each at least

IMO the most important NextBEN optionis to be able to play the previous consoles games I already have. That way I stick with that company. People here are complaining 10-15 year old games not working. Classic!

A new console saves them having to create any new games. they just tack the letters "HD" behind the current line up of Mario and Zelda games and bingo-bango-bongo another new range of titles for people to pay for again. Genuis!
