Hi,

Have noticed a weird problem with the Panasonic Dmr-xw300 and was wondering if anyone else has come across this issue.

Last night my wife complained that 'Packed to the Rafters' she tried to record as a regular timer was "not right"

When we had a look at it the recording was in 2 files - the first one was 4 seconds long from the beginning of the show, the second one was 17 seconds long from about the middle of the show.

Then when I look at the timer list every timer has an "!" under the 'Space' column - reading the manual it states that this means the hard drive is full or too many titles - neither is true. Adding a NEW timer the 'space' column shows "OK"

I checked in the status screen and is shows 2 other shows that didn't complete recording, both with a red box with an 'X' through it.

No idea what is going on here.

Sounds like the issue I had the other night on my Beyonwiz. If you have the unit set to get it's time information off the FTA EPG, then be aware that the stations are testing/broadcasting incorrect times as we head into this Day Light Saving cutover period. I am in Sydney and noticed it Monday or Tuesday night. I have set my BW to manual time, and once we switchj over to DLS, may look at switching back to auto.

Hi

Not sure whats happening there on the info supplied ,i can't fault mine in the 3 Months i've useing it,not a single missed Rec. or problem of any kind.

One tip thats been highlighted in other threads, when setting overlapping timed Rec. at least one has to be in DR mode(copies exact bitstream), ie you can't have simultaneous rec. in XP mode, one will fail to fire as chip(AFAIK) can only compress/process 1 Rec. at a time. Easy way out is to set all timers in DR mode and play around with finished Rec. at a later date.

Thanks for your responses.

Not an overlapping timer issue as it was the only timer on the night.

Up till now it's been rock solid - hasn't missed a single timer.......

May or may not help G South ; and it may be downloaded allready; but this firmware is for daylight saving issues :) Best to put on manual as diesel says too ;)

thanks cwt - mine updated a week or so ago.

I'll keep an eye on this and see if I have any other failures.

Last resort I'll reformat the disk to make sure it's not bad sectors or something like that.
