Sicarius123 Posted October 1, 2008 Posted October 1, 2008 Awaiting my new router, until then everything is running off a cable I swap around depending on what I'm using and authenticating through PPPOE. Can the PS3 do this, or will I have to wait until I get the new router to try out my new cable connection with games and download wipeout?

Ummm... what kind of cable? What is the cable coming out of, the wall, or a modem? Once a modem has been configured appropriately and connection is established with the ISP, it should be able to pass network to the PS3 over ethernet, but you wouldn't be able to use a USB modem for example. A lot of 'depends' with the situation for now Doc.

So right now instead of running a router to make the authentication, my PC is doing it. Think back to dial up days when you had to open your connection and dial in, kind of like that except it's a 2 sec authentication.

Take a gander at this and give it a go I reckon: http://manuals.playstation.net/document/en...ectadvance.html Edit: p.s. it's under 'IP Address Setting' on that page... Cheers, Doc.
