has anyone else noticed that some channels this year have stopped being what their name suggests?

for instance Biography channel- this used to have biographies 24/7 ( granted they were mostly about american celeb only) but over the course of this year, it has changed to showing 2-3 bio's a day and is filling up the rest of its line up with judge judy and other crap that was on W a year ago

another is Discovery Channel- when did this channel sink to the level it is at now? its no longer a doco channel but some deranged lifestyle channel for rev heads. discovery used to be one of the best channels.

MTV- music television, if only! i have not seen one music video on this channel in about 6 months!

i wont even start on sci-fi, as that is a sore point for us all.

and now on to a show that is annoying the hell out of me, it must be repeated more than the nanny! LOVE MY BLOODY WAY! how many times can this show be moved around and shown again and again. it started on fox 8 then premiered all over again on W then premiered again on showtime now has premiered again on showcase!

i think i know what will be on channel 111 on launch

totally new programming including:

The Nanny - premieres

Everybody loves Raymond- premiers

The simpsons- new episodes

judge judy- new season 2

star trek - premieres

and of course for the first time again Love my way premieres on 111, a totally new way to see what you saw 5 years ago!

oh dear me need a coffee

Judge Judy Season 2!!! Woo - that would be episodes from 99 I think. Wouldnt mind seeing them, although its nice to have new episodes on Bio (and yes I agree with you about the fact that the channels dont actually show what their name says they do)

Welcome to Foxtel.

Yes we do have the choice of not having it but until there is a real alternative we have to have Foxtel. Doesnt mean we cant moan about the service though.

( that comment for the bleeders who get on here and say you dont have to have it )

I like Fox Classics/UKTV and used to watch TV1. UKTV had all those great old shows like Allo Allo, Are You Being Served Yes Minister and the Doctor in the House and Ab Fab etc and they finally went off. About a month or so ago I was watching something on Comedy Channel and they had an ad on something about Best of British and low and behold............there were the shows.

So as you say Troykm the repeat them to death on one channel then premiere them on another. Considering most people get those channels on their Basic package its a laugh so you buy an add on package and there on Comedy is the same farking shows.

Nickelodeon's older animated shows could be moved to a separate channel perhaps.

They play too much Spongebob, and not enough Rugrats, etc.

Nicktoons would definately open up some airtime.

Great Spongebob... Funny how they can show this terrible comedy more than seven times a day, this show destroyed the network. Same with disney, a little less Hannah Montanna and a bit more cartoons like The Weekenders. Foxtels programming is not just dodgy, but repeditive. I understand how they have to repeat some shows once or twice a week, but not ten! A few ideas on making our television more, uh... watchable;

- Cut down station on air times, no one will want to watch television at 3 AM in the morning! This saves money and power. Plus with all the money saved, they can easily fix their own stations terrible lineups.

- Change schedules, no double episodes of shows, i have seen so many i might just die.

- Programming blocks can give a channel better organisation, i once watched a G oriented show, ten minutes later an MA rated movie popped out of the blue.

- Spend more time fixing up your on air ID's, channels like FOX Classics and Cartoon Network have some of the cheesiest idents, it really puts you off to think your watching a budget cut channel...

- Fix up your classifications, I can't believe how Foxtel rates some of their programmes, the preschool channels arent for every one, so change your rating from a G to a P, same with kids channels, change it from a G to a C. I saw an M rated episode of simpsons with no swear and little violence and a extremely mature episode of Family Guy at a rating of PG...

- More channels, I'd like to see an increase, it has been at a bit of a standstill ever since digital.

Yea i know i complain, but to think that such a great company has such a poor service.

Why? I watch TV early mornings and many nights I'm up all night and I'm sure there are many others out there who also watch tv late nights early mornings. Ok, there probably is many more people who don't watch it at those hours but you'd still have a chunk of ppl whod be watching TV at that time and why should they be effected?

The best thing Nickelodeon (and the other kids channels) could do would be to vary their schedules daily in the evenings. Nickelodeon has the same thing on every night, while they have a lot of shows that aren't shown at all for a few months. They should give every show a weekly timeslot.

That is one of the silliest suggestions I've heard. It actually costs very little to run a channel overnight. Its a lot better to replay the shows that were shown during the day at night because then those people that work different hours actually have something to watch instead of watching infomercials.

This is why Foxtel invented the IQ, but I see what you mean, wouldn't want to wake up in the middle of the night, unable to get back to sleep and nothing on tv. And if it isn't really at all that expensive to run a channel overnight then 24 hours would be better.

The iQ is great if you plan ahead and want to record something, but if you just want to zone out and watch a bit of telly its not that useful.

Ugh - yeah I can just imagine it. It better not be something like that!

And dont forget IQ only has a couple of tuners. How many times has there not been something on and so you channel surf ? if the stations were turned off late at night and you didnt like the programme you IQ's then yr stuffed.

Just less repeating is all that is needed but will never happen as they will just show to death one show then premiere it on another channels as per previous posts. There are so many old shows out there that must be dirt cheap that they could use as fillers.

As for the cartoon channels the only ones I like are the old Disney cartoons/Hanna Barbra ones. But then again I'm old. Those new ones just dont do it for me.

Flame away, but i absoluely love watching Judge Judy. Currently among my favourite TV program's.

I must watch at least 3 episodes a day weekdays, and can't get enough of it. I would appreciate if it found a home on one channel for a sustained period of time, but that's life i suppose; spice things up every now and then. -_-

The Sopranos on W

It is hardly a show oriented to women..

I like UKTV, as they air the original british version of The Weakest Link and they don't air all those american sitcoms. They air all british shows. So they haven't changed.
