Hi guys,

I'm looking for a decent 2.1 (something like logitech speaker- i mean in size cause i don't have enough space) to pair with my 50"plasma.

Will use it mainly for watching movie. And it would be good if it has a optical conection so that i can coneect it directly to the tv.

i gues my budget wil be 1k max :)

Thanks first

have you got room for a bookshelf speaker?

a pair of Monitor Audio BR2's and something like a yamaha 663 could be had for around that.....

otherwise, i think KEF has some good offerings for small satellite style speakers. lyle's always banging on about em. ;)

edit* no sub of course with this option. but it's upgradeable at least. :)

I think KEF is cost around 2k without the receiver. So it will end up around $3k.

I'm just looking at 2.1 because of the space issue. Is the bookshelf without a sub will be good enough for a movie freak like me hehe..

i'm using an altec lansing 2.1 at the moment(which came with THX) but still not good enough for me. and it doesn't have the optical input so i have to plug it from my speaker to tv's headphone slot.

Depends on your definition of 'decent' I suppose but $1000 doesn't buy a lot if you're after speakers + AVR + Subwoofer. Eastwood Hifi have a reputation for putting together inexpensive packages but looking over their specials on the website and you're hard pressed to find much in your price range - let alone anything "decent".

I'd suggest perhaps ditching the .1 for now and keeping an eye on the forums here for some second hand bookshelf speakers and an AVR.

FWIW the THX logo means absolutely nothing when it comes to speakers, particulartly PC speakers like the logitech/Altec Lansing ones.
