I have used the heavy duty ones from Bunnings in the past and they were fine ... but not for anything over 10 kgs. Chops

Any advice appreciated. Oh im running them with the yammy 661. thanx The obvious choice would be the 686's, which i'm using as rears in a set up like yours. I was going to wall mount, but ended up putting them in shelving unit type things. Probably not ideal, acoustically, but WAF approval was necessary and to be honest, the 686's are pretty heavy, so i was relieved that i didn't have to deal with it. Your 685's for rears would need 10kg brackets at least, as they are 7kg each. I looked at some Vogel wall mounts on Selby website which seemed pretty versatile, but i wasn't sure how the covers were going to go over them, as they clamp the speaker at the front and rear. Good luck Bob
evil_ss Posted September 20, 2008 Author Posted September 20, 2008 yes i was thinking of the 686's, but my lounge backs onto a window therefor there isnt a whole lot of wall space between the top of the window frame and the roof. Hopefully i can test the 686's and if they dont work i can take them back, otherwise i think a secnd hand pair from ebay etc would be the go. Cheers guys
evil_ss Posted September 24, 2008 Author Posted September 24, 2008 well i ordered the lm1's, so within a week or so ill post a review of the system

geoffcb1503559619 Posted September 26, 2008 Posted September 26, 2008 Digital audio connections are required to listen to multi-channel Dolby (or DTS) digital audio so one need those to take full advantage of a 5.1 speaker-equipped home theater system. In addition, digital video connections can make an impressively large improvement in picture performance. If you own an HDMI (or DVI)-equipped display, invest in one of the inexpensive HDMI-equipped DVD players and one will be knocked out by the quality difference one can enjoy. The importance and value of good speakers cannot be underestimated and yes, one can hear the difference with more expensive speakers. A good set of matched surround speakers will make an enormous difference on the system. In particular, don't chintz out on the center channel speaker. Virtually all the dialog and lots of other important elements in surround sound movies, TV shows and even multi-channel audio (e.g., DVD Audio or Super Audio CD) is fed to the center channel, so it needs to be one of the best speakers in the system.Once one have a 5.1 (or better) speaker system in place it seems a shame to only use it for movies, right? Well, with the DVD-Audio and Super Audio CD (SACD) format players and discs out there now, there's no need to. These multi-channel audio standards will literally surround one with high-quality audio by offering a 5.1 music mix that features very high resolution (up to 24-bit, 96 kHz sampling rates) digital audio. one will need a universal DVD player in order to play all these discs at their full fidelity, but it’s a worthwhile investment, particularly for serious music fans.----------------------------------------------------- francis Link Building He has good goddamn speakers, you spammer! I'd agree that 686s would be nice for the rears. I'm thinking of the same front speakers myself. But I don't have room for 686s.
huang Posted November 17, 2008 Posted November 17, 2008 well i ordered the lm1's, so within a week or so ill post a review of the system how did the 686's go? I have also been thinking about b&W lower end gear.
