Guest shadow85 Posted September 19, 2008 Posted September 19, 2008 (edited) hi, I have a samsung 40" a650 TV for a few weeks now. I got my free samsung Blu Ray and fired a movie up, when I press the info button on my TV remote control it says the output is 1920 x 1080 @ 60HZ. ? Now I thought it is suppose to be 100HZ? Can someone tell me if this is correct, or is there some setting I am missing? BTW I have already gone in to picture options and enabled 100HZ motion plus to High. but still it says output is 1920 x 1080 @ 60Hz, and I am using the HDMI cable supplied with the BD-P1500 player, connected into HDMI input1. digitalj Posted September 19, 2008 Posted September 19, 2008 the TV is Reporting what it's receiving, not what it's displaying, btw, if you turn 24Hz on on the Samsung Blu-ray Player, your TV will be able to play this at 96Hz.

Ok so now I have chosen 24fps on the BD menu, but the TV now says 24Hz? So is this suppose to be better, 100HZ?

alanh Posted September 20, 2008 Posted September 20, 2008 Noel, Movies are shot at 24 frame/s. So select this on the blu ray player for the best pictures. Use the HDMI input so that the display will run at 96 refresh/s. This will give the best images when the objects in the picture are moving. AlanH
Guest shadow85 Posted September 20, 2008 Posted September 20, 2008 hi thanks guys, im just a bit confused as to what best picture is. I was under the impression that 100HZ will give best looking motion. Apparantly not.
alanh Posted September 20, 2008 Posted September 20, 2008 Noel, That is true for Australian broadcast TV because our video is shot at 25 frame/s. 25 x 4 = 100 Hz. (24 x 4 = 96 Hz) AlanH
Falken Posted September 20, 2008 Posted September 20, 2008 Hi everyone, I have a question about the 100hz. What is the reviews of this feature on video gaming? The retailers never have demos or display for video games from PS3 and Xbox360 on TVs. Normally they show the offical demos or the bluray movies, so I don't know themotion quality of 100hz functions on video games. Do anyone have experiences of playing video games with 100hz motion? please give me some feedback, thank you. The current TV I have right now is Sharp Aquos LC52PD7x, bought it this year with a good deal ($2999 with extended warranty and free delivery) but is an outdate model as I know, so I wondering the 100hz is suitablle for video games or not because I only use the TV for video gaming.
bille Posted September 21, 2008 Posted September 21, 2008 I'm just looking for info about HDTV's and considering Samsung and the game stuff is a question my Grandson asked, so looking foreward to more comments from actual owners.

Hi I use my sansung a650 40" for PC gaming and it is amazing. I play all the latest games, such as Stalker Clear Sky, Alone in the Dark and the quality is really amazing. It only outputs @ 60Hz in PC mode, but thats OK koz I cant notice any lag in motion when I play games. Edited September 21, 2008 by shadow85
ugoagogo Posted September 21, 2008 Posted September 21, 2008 hi thanks guys, im just a bit confused as to what best picture is. I was under the impression that 100HZ will give best looking motion. Apparantly not. according to Samsung 100hz is good for sport and blu ray.....other times should be turned off. On the Samsung sets the feature that dictates smooth movement is movie plus...which is turned off by default. If you have terminator 3 on dvd there are quite a few scenes which display the difference between good and bad movement...if you need to know scenes let me know..
shadow851503561807 Posted September 22, 2008 Posted September 22, 2008 I just watched 300 with the 24Hz setting from the BLU ray player, seemed completly fine to me. Looks so amazing blu ray. I feel like watching every movie I have already seen again on Blu Ray, lol.
