G'day everyone,

Krix is releasing a new 3-way floorstanding loudspeaker, called the Krix Harmonix.

This new loudspeaker replaces the long-standing 2-way Krix Symphonix.

The new Harmonix will have 2 dedicated bass drivers, 1 mid-range driver (from the Krix Neuphonix), and the same soft dome tweeter as the Krix Phoenix.

This new loudspeaker should be released in the next couple of months.

You heard it here first!

Dan.

Do you know what the esoterix replacement is dantan???? ooooo snap :)

seriously thats great news. As long as the price remains controlled it appears to be a definate step up from the phoenix and the neuphonix mid range driver is quite good vifa custom I believe.

Unfortunately, I don't know too much about the Esoterix replacement, except that it won't be released any time soon, and I believe that it will be an absolute top-of-the-range speaker, and will be priced to suit.

Price-wise for the Harmonix, when we think of it, it will be a genuine three-way design with good drivers, and you would probably bank on easily a $500.00 price increase over the $2,000.00 Symphonix, which I would say would be reasonable. However, that would bring it fairly close price-wise to the Neuphonix.

yeah 2500 would be pushing it a smidge, is it really that much better than the symphonix? Im thinking maybe $2200? They did keep the Phoenix the same price as the Lyrix Gold.

I suppose the only way to find out is to pit them against each other, but the cross-over will be a lot more complex, now that it is a three-way loudspeaker with four drivers. I would say a $500.00 price increase for one extra driver, a more complex and perhaps ideal three-way cross-over, would be reasonable.

Perhaps Krix might increase the price of the Neuphonix's.

You are right it is a long way away. Oh well when it comes out it eventually it will be awesome. My money is around 2300 a justifiable increase. Mind you we are about the experinece the CPI increase for the year. I bet speaker and amp companys rrp will drift upward (along with most things).

You must have some spies in planet krix dantan. I couldnt find the name harmonix anywhere on google. :) unless you work for them................... scott? lol i forgot you live in perth that rules out that accusation. :) spy on dantan spy on.

yeah your probably right. Im only dreaming about buying a pair anyway. Hopefully the new centrix will be a perfect match for the phoenix, that might be a little more attainable!

Hi Andre. You mentioned the new Centrix - is that just rumour, or do you know for sure it's coming ?

I rang up Krix a few months ago. He didnt really confirm any hard dates but said something along the lines of it was something they were looking at doing later on in the year. I guess its not going to happen this year, but i do imagine they are looking to bring out something to complement their Phoenix and now i guess Harmonix in a HT setup.

Hey mate,

Unfortunately, I don't work for Krix. I wouldn't mind, though! Hee hee.

I am in quite regular contact with them, because I am a big fan, but nothing more!

Hey bitey,

No, the Epicentrix was designed to fully complement the Neuphonix floorstanding loudspeakers, and has the same 6 drive units as the Neuphonix.

Ah! fair enuff... Just figured it was a replacement as the neuphonix replaced the euphonix and the matching center for those was the centrix

Cheers,

Alright, I have got a picture of the new Harmonix from Krix. Let's hope I can figure out how to paste a picture here, or paste a link of it here.

dantan you need to host the pic at a site like flickr.com or photobucket.com etc then you can link back to it in this thread. I can host if if you like, you will just need to email it to me. pm for email address if you like.

Okay, that did not work very well at all. I shall try again later, unless someone is able to kindly help me with technical help here!

Hey Dan, I read through the topic on posting pics, and couldn't make much sense from that.

This site AVHub is a review of the new Harmonix, with pretty pics.

Krix also have pics and an article on their website. The guesses on price were spot-on. $2.500 for wood, $2,300 for vinyl. Think I'll be sticking with my old Euphonix for a while.

Thanks mate. I think I'll just leave it, because M&K Freak has managed to find stuff on-line, and there are pictures of the Symphonix, so it is all good!

Thanks M&K Freak. I have also got the press release on these loudspeakers but I had better not send it, because I think it is supposed to be confidential. I do NOT work for Krix, though, so I hopefully won't again be accused of working for them. I happen to be a very happy customer and a big fan, and liaise with Krix on a fairly regular basis, that's all.

they look pretty impressive and good value at that price, i look forward to hearing them, when they appear. Be interesting to see how this affects neuphonix sales...........

I would also like to add, don't be surprised to find a matching centre channel for the new Harmonix.

Hi Dan,

any info on the centre yet, size, drivers, configuration, price etc.

G'day roxy,

These are shipping next month, but are already in shops (there is already a pair at Sound Advice in Perth), plus you are in Adelaide, so I would assume that the retailers there in South Australia would already have them.

I would say that these would need at least a few days' worth of running-in to start sounding at their best.

Price-wise, the Neuphonix's cost only $700.00 more, is much larger, with a higher-spec tweeter (dual concentric tweeter, rated to 40khz), and two additional bass drivers (although the 2 bass drivers in the Harmonix are larger). It would be interesting to see if Krix ends up increasing the RRP of the Neuphonix's.

I shall be checking out the Harmonix at Sound Advice in about an hour from now. They are extremely new and would likely not sound at their best yet, but I shall report on my findings on Monday.

Erm, unfortunately not, Drew. Knowing Krix, it would be a substantial centre channel, with the same number of drivers as the Harmonix, instead of a scaled-down centre channel that is designed to fit in a small, confined area.

At this stage, I don't know anything about the matching centre channel (don't even know when it will be released) except that it is coming! However, I shall let you know as soon as I know.

I hope that it will be large enough to hold a large flat-screen TV (like the sensational Epicentrix).

Dan.
