justin25 Posted September 18, 2008 Posted September 18, 2008 If you do a forced update the 3 tuner is available now.new software version 34.2.0.8.26 epg software version U_1.0.26.This means you can record 2 programs at once while watching another channel.
jaxmachine1007 Posted September 18, 2008 Posted September 18, 2008 sorry to bother you, how do u do a force update
broca002 Posted September 18, 2008 Posted September 18, 2008 (edited) From the other Foxtel thread: If you want to update the firmware Press 'back' and 'select on the IQ front panel All the lights will go off and come back on They will go off again They will all come on As soon as they come on press 'power'. 'up' 'down' 'power' (one after the other) The IQ will update Edited September 18, 2008 by broca002
loony Posted September 18, 2008 Posted September 18, 2008 As there has been discussion about the new firmware since i posted about it this morning have a read over here http://www.dtvforum.info/index.php?showtop...t&p=1167035
Junkyard Posted September 18, 2008 Posted September 18, 2008 cant believe it , finally awesome works great
ritzav Posted September 18, 2008 Posted September 18, 2008 How long does the firmware upgrade for IQ2 take ? I went thro the steps and now the box is showing a red light and would not start ( i think ) Maybe it is updating firmware... I did the upgrade without turning my TV or the AVR on so i am not sure if it updating or if i have stuffed something up
re-boot Posted September 18, 2008 Posted September 18, 2008 I hope this doesn't sound stupid (but I've had a few drinks so maybe I'm exonerated), but before you could record 2 shows and watch something off the planner. Why now (with the extra tuner) can't you record 3 and watch something recorded? I've tried

Excellent. Now I just have to wait for 3 programmes that I really want to watch to be on at the same time. Has never happened before in the 8 years I have had Foxtel

Why now (with the extra tuner) can't you record 3 and watch something recorded? I know, you would think they would add the feature in however you can only record 2 things and watch another live show. You cannot record 3 things simultaneously Edited September 18, 2008 by loony
Brad.. Posted September 18, 2008 Posted September 18, 2008 (edited) nice i love it i did my update takes about 5mins Edited September 18, 2008 by bradaus
re-boot Posted September 18, 2008 Posted September 18, 2008 nice i love it Look, I agree. No matter how much people bag Foxtel, I just couldn't be without it. Might downgrade from top tier, but will always have it in some form.
charlesc Posted September 18, 2008 Posted September 18, 2008 Now I just have to wait for 3 programmes that I really want to watch to be on at the same time.Has never happened before in the 8 years I have had Foxtel Really?! Happens a lot of times for me with FTA..

jaxmachine1007 Posted September 18, 2008 Posted September 18, 2008 Hi Brad There will be 3 new channels as mention in below link http://www.dtvforum.info/index.php?showtopic=71018
fredofrog Posted September 18, 2008 Posted September 18, 2008 FOXTEL said they have four tuners for IQ2 soon but list 2 tv records plus watching a third - what's the fourth??
jaxmachine1007 Posted September 18, 2008 Posted September 18, 2008 The 4th tuner i think is for on-demand
re-boot Posted September 18, 2008 Posted September 18, 2008 The 4th tuner i think is for on-demand On Demand content has already been downloaded to your IQ and resides on the hard drive. Would a tuner even be required to watch this?
jaxmachine1007 Posted September 19, 2008 Posted September 19, 2008 i was going off the foxtel 'wiki' page But 'wiki' is not always right
hawto Posted September 19, 2008 Posted September 19, 2008 It is required for the actual downloading of the content, the 4th tuner will just sit in the background and allow foxtel to push any programs into the box whenever they like.
DrP Posted September 19, 2008 Posted September 19, 2008 It allows the 'on demand' content to be recorded by your box at any time meaning Foxtel can potentially push more out (ie, no need to repeat it as much to make sure it gets to all IQs).
sydmos Posted September 19, 2008 Posted September 19, 2008 Really?! Happens a lot of times for me with FTA.. Have to agree with the other poster 3 programmes I want playing at the same time on Foxtel has never happened to me. Besides with the high repeat rate , I can usually get it at 2am or something. But with the FTA's there have been times where there are 2 shows and occassionally 3 shows on at the same time that I wanted so it comes in handy then.
loony Posted September 19, 2008 Posted September 19, 2008 It is required for the actual downloading of the content, the 4th tuner will just sit in the background and allow foxtel to push any programs into the box whenever they like. It is also the tuner used to receive firmware updates
e.z Posted September 19, 2008 Posted September 19, 2008 When we got the iQ2 the Foxtel guy didn't actually connect all four tuners. Anyone else got the same problem?
