Jesh Posted September 17, 2008 Posted September 17, 2008 (edited) Gday all, I have decided to buy the 60PG30FD (Which you probably know by now, cos i've been talking bout it for ages, just waiting for the money from sold shares to come through). Do you think its possible to get it for 4k? I am curious as to what prices you can get for it interstate. Here in SA it goes for: Radio Rentals (Prospect) - $4638 Good Guys (Catalogue) - $4488 JB Hifi (Elizabeth) - $4991 What the best price people have got for it? EDIT: Another quick question, whats Foxtel like on this TV? Anyone tried it, much difference between Standard, IQ and IQ2? Thanks Edited September 17, 2008 by Jesh
redxiii Posted September 17, 2008 Posted September 17, 2008 Unsure as to what pricing you can get it for. Its a new model and they usually don't go into extreme discounting until end of life phase. I have this television at work running standard def through a beyonwiz dps1 and stand def is viewable and tolerable at about 4 metres for me. You should go look at it. (foxtel is standard def quality unless you have foxtel HD but its only HD on a handful of channels)
suparockin Posted September 18, 2008 Posted September 18, 2008 When I was shopping for my Samsung 63" I saw a full HD LG 60" for $4000? Not sure which model?
xrcist007 Posted September 18, 2008 Posted September 18, 2008 Radio Rentals (Prospect) - $4638Good Guys (Catalogue) - $4488 JB Hifi (Elizabeth) - $4991 you should be able to walk into Jb and say "good guys are doing this for $4400, if you can make it $4300, ill take it now" but you need to have you cash ready and be ready to go on the day, and there is really no reason why they should say no. i have done this many times and sometimes tell them prices nowhere near what the other stores have quoted me but still a realistic figure, youd be suprised how many will say yes.
Jesh Posted September 18, 2008 Author Posted September 18, 2008 Thanks for the replys so far. The thing is i have a receipt here for 4k on the 60PG70FD (From a friend interstate), which is the "premium" model of the 30FD. Will this be very effective when trying to get the price down, as the price is interstate and im not driving interstate to save 300 bucks. Maybe i will go in and ask them how close they can get me to this price... I have a link to the receipt if anyone wants it btw. Thanks
ministry Posted September 18, 2008 Posted September 18, 2008 You can get the 30FD for $4200 without haggling at most stores.
Jesh Posted September 18, 2008 Author Posted September 18, 2008 You can get the 30FD for $4200 without haggling at most stores. Yeah i reckon things are bit dodgey here in SA. I noticed that you onw the 30FD Ministry. How do you like the TV, how long you had it? Had any troubles with it? Thanks Again
Guest sovereign Posted September 20, 2008 Posted September 20, 2008 Got mine 2 weeks ago at HN City West in Perth for $4300, inc 4yr extended warranty and delivery on finance. Did buy a receiver at the same time too which i paid cash for. I got HN to price match JBs who worked very hard for the sale but couldn’t get stock for 4-6 weeks. Im going to do a good search for prices before the 30 day price guarantee ends in 2 weeks. Foxtel looks pretty good... This display is not quite as forgiving as the old DLP rear pro but it is perfectly acceptable. Foxtel HD looks amazing, esp ESPN HD and NG HD. HD Box office look great also. Only small issue is that i am having to be very careful after having the screen on Sky News for any length of time... the Logo in the top right corner is taking 10 mins to totally disappear after watching for >45 mins. It does disappear without any issues but im conscious of it. Also, be careful - the LG website says that the weigh of the display is 60ish kgs but the manual says 80ish kgs which i can vouch for. Had to invest in a new cabinet that was able to take the weight.
ministry Posted September 21, 2008 Posted September 21, 2008 Yeah i reckon things are bit dodgey here in SA. I noticed that you onw the 30FD Ministry. How do you like the TV, how long you had it? Had any troubles with it?Thanks Again I've had the set now for nearly two months and i love the picture be it foxtel, bluray or 360. I was going to invest in foxtel hd but after comparing hd channel ten and hd channel 2 with the foxtel sd iq through component and upscaling it to 1080p through my denon amp i honestly cant' see the difference.
Jesh Posted September 21, 2008 Author Posted September 21, 2008 Thanks for all the replies guys! Sounds like a pretty kick ass TV. I was actually curious about the weight thing, cos 60 kgs did sound quite light for a tv of this size. I swear our old CRT tops it though, that thing must weigh 100 kgs . Thats a good price for the 30FD actually, planning to buy the tv with a HT system as well, which should lower the price of the tv. Got any receipts for these tvs? Cos i dunno how good a quote from a forum will go in try to haggle a price down Thanks again guys, you've all been a great help.
fred.e Posted October 8, 2008 Posted October 8, 2008 Can anyone explain the difference between the 60PG30FD & 60PG70FD - I've looked everywhere...
ministry Posted October 8, 2008 Posted October 8, 2008 (edited) The 30fd has a frame and the 70fd is frameless with just the sheet of glass. That is it i did compare them side by side and the 70fd did look nice but not $700 more nice! http://au.lge.com/products/model/detail/tv..._60pg70fd.jhtml Use this link and compare the sets.
