jarthel Posted September 14, 2008 Posted September 14, 2008 I believe you can self-calibrate TVS using DVDs (e.g. DVD Essentials). I'm just wondering if it's okay to use an NTSC DVD. I'm looking to buy Avia 2 (based from what I read in AVS) but it isn't available locally. any ideas?

Of course you can self-calibrate with disks like DVD Essentials, you won't get an ISF result but you'll definitely get benefit. You can use an NTSC DVD, but you'll calibrate to the NTSC signal. If most of the stuff you are viewing is PAL there is not much of a point calibrating with an NTSC disk IMO. 1000
Mr.Bitey Posted September 14, 2008 Posted September 14, 2008 I dont see why you couldnt set your contrast/brightness with DVE NTSC - shouldnt be different... Ived used the NTSC one in the past and found benefit on PAL systems... just forget about doing the colour side :-) Cheers, Bitey
Mr.Bitey Posted September 14, 2008 Posted September 14, 2008 Just rered the OP's post Avia is geared towards CRT's Getgray is geared towards lcd/plasmas Why not just pickup a copy of Digital Video Essentials PAL locally? - will give similar results if your using your eyes only.. (if your using a sensor, you dont need any of those discs :-) Cheers, Bitey
