VenomX2 Posted September 12, 2008 Posted September 12, 2008 Had just got a HDTV and plugged in IQ using the supplied scart to RCA. Have now noticed scan lines moving on the screen and a humming sounds from the video. Is that normal?
Arron Posted September 15, 2008 Posted September 15, 2008 i have not noticed this. are u sure the humming sound is not coming from the hard drive in the iq. if not fiddle with all your video settings see if something helps.
loony Posted September 15, 2008 Posted September 15, 2008 Sounds like you have a "ground loop" issue. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ground_loop_(electricity) Try unplugging everything else from your TV and IQ (so only you TV is connected to your IQ and vice versa) and see if the issue is still there. Make sure your TV and IQ2 are plugged into the same power board. If it is then there is likely a ground issue between your TV and IQ2, if it goes away then plug each other device in one at a time until you find the issue. Then comes the part of fixing it, that can be fun...
VenomX2 Posted September 15, 2008 Author Posted September 15, 2008 Seems like someone else is experiencing the same issue. http://www.dtvforum.info/index.php?s=&...t&p=1165084

Tried using an external disc player and did not notice any scan lines.

Are you able to connect the IQ2 to your TV using a different method of connection? Does your set-up consist of a Home theatre system with a sub? If it does the turn the HT system on and what sort of tone is it? If it is coming from the sub woofer then it is going to be a 50hz hum which will indicate it is a ground loop issue. If you dont have a sub then the tone your tv is producing will be something resembling a deep flat note. When doing the text mute the IQ2, chances are that the noise is still there.

Its IQ to TV using SCART to Composite. Have considered getting a SCART to Component but might as well do the IQ2 upgrade to HDMI later. Yes, even when IQ is on mute the sound is still there.
VenomX2 Posted September 19, 2008 Author Posted September 19, 2008 noticed that it also depends on the video content. older movies seems to project the scan lines more clearly. so is this an electrical "ground loop" issue?
VenomX2 Posted September 30, 2008 Author Posted September 30, 2008 bump... does anyone have this issue or know how to fix it? would getting the IQ2 help?
loony Posted September 30, 2008 Posted September 30, 2008 bump...does anyone have this issue or know how to fix it? would getting the IQ2 help? Id call foxtel and tell them what's happening. They will send a tech out and i think he might replace the IQ for you.

VenomX2 Posted October 1, 2008 Author Posted October 1, 2008 If foxtel replace the IQ then the saved vids can they be transferred to the new IQ?
