Guest firmware Posted September 12, 2008 Posted September 12, 2008 Hi i have this problem doesn't happen all the time(twice today) but enough to annoy us. Sometimes when i press the epg and scroll through the channels and find one i want to watch and press epg to get full screen video the screen goes blank and no sound. I can still see the epg if i press the epg button and access the menus just no video and sound and the only way to fix this is via a power cycle. So i rang select TV and they said it could be because i am changing the channels to fast so i tested this by spamming the up and down arrow on the remote while in the epg and it wouldn't go blank. He also said that a lot of select tv customer experience this?. Is this a common thing for the Arion 3030 or have i got a dud?

andrew1503559519 Posted September 19, 2008 Posted September 19, 2008 Some time ago I wrote in this forum that I could download a software upgrade directly from Select. You go through menus in the box to do it then press OK. It then downloads and takes about 10 minutes with the channel number counting. Then the picture returns. If you do it again, there is a message about the download failing. It simply means that you already have the same version installed. Try it.

I have been with Selectv for 2 1/2 years and very happy with their service so two months ago I bought their latest set top box (satellite and local digital free to air tv all in one)(the box you see on their website now) but I have problems with the "on screen EPG" (programme guide). It either doesn't show the current programme that is on, or the EPG is not complete for 7 days, or the free to air guide doesn't show anything at all or only displays some programmes. Eratic would be a good description. I leave the box always turned on to allow the programme guide to always be updated. I have re-set the box to factory default settings many times. I have downloaded the latest firmware. I have set the time correctly and the location to NSW and I have turned off and unplugged the box to re-set it. I might have just been unlucky and sent a faulty box because my old original 2 1/2 year old box worked perfectly all that time which eliminates any problems with my dish etc. I have tried emailing Selectv but no replies and also rang them and was on hold for 50 minutes and then cut off. Can anyone offer any suggestions? thanks in advance, cheers Not sure if it applies to you but the Selectv box I have worked much better after a software upgrade over the air.
