I've got a Toppy 7000 and using component cables at the moment as the old plasma panel has no HDMI inputs. My new panel arrives next week and obvioulsy has HDMI inputs.

My Question: I run my audio from the Toppy to my Yamaha home theatre set and then to speakers. If I use HDMI cable to the panel, I believe this carries both sound and picture. Can I still run another set of audio cables to my home theatre set as I don't really want to use the plasma set speakers.

I assume if this can be done, I simply need to turn off the volume of the TV so I only get sound from one source, the speakers which output from the home theatre system.

This is probably a stupid question, but I'd rather ask and be sure.

Thanks all

Your assumptions are correct Roger.

Just connect the HDMI between PVR and TV and run a separate optical cable to the AVR. Then when you want to listen to the AVR, you just mute the TV speakers.

BTW, you're better off posting this is the Toppy 7000pvrt thread here. Iwould also ask there whether the HDMI issue has been rectified on the 7000. Not sure which FW, but there was some issues with green screens when panels were connected by HDMI.

Thanks Diesel

I'm running FW version 80 and all is working well so I'm not changing it until 84R5 is bedded down - seems pretty good so far. As I'm currently using component cables, I'll try HDMI but if there are any issues I'm comfortable going back to Component as from my reading there is no real difference invideo quality between the 2.
