Hi, I am just about to take the plunge and spend some $$$ on a new Sony XBR & PS3 Blueray combo.

A sales guy from a large retail chain, lets say HV was trying to sell me an HDMI cable saying you need these special cables for the transfer rate etc and if you don't have a high end cable then yo will miss out on the full on HD experience yada yada yada!!! The cable he was trying to sell me was $320. I was somewhat skeptical and walked away.

Now the need for one of these high end expensive cables is BS isn't it?

Yes it certainly is! There'a guy on the forums here (foxy) that sells cables at a fraction of the price.

tho only reason you would want 1.3a or 'high transfer' hdmi cable is for the new dolby and dts codecs( the exact names allude me at this time)..(even then you have to have a compatilbe reciever to take advantage of it) ...lol

everyone say that foxtails are good so i guess try those.... :P

BS meter just blew up..haha

One does need a HDMI cable, they just don't have to be that expensive.

Yeah sure, but the sales people shouldn't blatantly lie to you in an attempt to extract more $$$$

QLD i think but delivery is very quick :)

I bought mine at Dick Smiths for $25. It's a 3 meter length HDMI from PS3 to Sony SXRD 60".

Also be careful of HN people selling anti virus software for PCs at high prices. It costs them almost nothing, literally. I would also haggle strongly with their extended warranty prices.
