Guest audiphile Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 (edited) Hi people, I am having trouble getting 100 picture quality on my Hauppage HVR 2200's. My current setup is antenna goes into non-powered splitter which is split to 3 rooms. 1 of the rooms is the lounge which the signal again is split into 3 (1 for tv, 2 for Tuner cards in PC). To try and further find the issue i have removed the 3 way splitter and replaced it with a gain controller and plugged in one tuner card only and scanned the signal coming in. At various adjument points i can get 100% on one or two channels 2,7,9,10,SBS but never at the same time ? What concerns me is the application says signal strength 20, all the time no matter what the gain control is set to, its just the quality that seems to vary between 8 and 100 on the channels. Any suggestions ? Or should i bite the bullet and get an antennae guy in to remedy it, i am in Melbourne Edited September 10, 2008 by audiphile

What kind of splitter do you use? I use those metal die cast ones with f-connectors and it splits into 4, then into 2's and 4s, and no real issues. Analogue signal is weakened (there used to be snow on Access 31, but is a non issue now), but digital is perfect.

drubie Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 the one under the house is the type you strip back the core and and shielding in plastic case.the one in lounge is the type of connector you plug fly leads into for antennae signal They get dirty and as the copper shielding oxidises, you start losing signal quality. Go under the house and re-terminate all the coax going into the plastic box (i.e. cut an inch off it and screw it back on), see if that fixes it.
